I first heard this dubbed on top of the instrumental version that starts at about 8:50. It was from a Hendrix documentary put out on NPR, maybe in the 80's. Since that's the one I heard first it is definitive for me. This one is better-produced. No complaints!

JIMI AND BUDDY PLAYED THE MUSIC TO THE POETRY. THAT MUSIC CAME FROM THE POETRY. POETRY IS MUSIC THE LAST POETS WERE THE FIRST RAPPERS.

Toward the end of his life he started playing more freely creating new sounds but his management was always rushing him to do live shows, he hardly had time to experiment, he said himself he wanted to start playing at his new studio but mike Jeffery was greedy
