these old shows were a joy to watch.. way more honest and in your face... and also shows that a relative low budget , certainly didn't make the episodes less enjoyable. It also seems like the target group went from mainly adults on these older shows, to a more "family friendly" concept // kids.
@rikzel

Imo gold rush or the fishing programs on tv nowadays aren't more family friendly, they cuss all the time. I guess it's just cheaper to get a view on board of a fishing ship than to pay for a whole program and their experiments. Tv really isn't what it used to be anymore, kinda sad.

I often contemplate the repercussions of not passing tests. First, I have diabetes, which I've heard can cause a false positive on breathalyzer tests. Second, I'm unable to walk heel-to-toe without falling. Third, I cannot tip my head back and hold it or stand on one foot without falling over, even when sober. Occasionally, I use a cane for support due to these issues, and I seldom drink alcohol. I had a drink last year, but before that, I hadn't consumed alcohol in five years.

Mints are probably to not smell drunk. And if the police doesn't assume you might be drunk, they might not do a test. Oh, and over here in Germany drinking and driving is not illegal. As in, you can absolutely have a drink while driving. But that doesn't free you from the responsibility. If you go over the legal limit, you're still drunk driving. If you get into an accident while under the limit, you still have have legal responsibility for the accident. In my 20s, a friend and I conducted an experiment. A nurse we knew claimed that consuming large amounts of coleslaw could negate the effects of alcohol, a practice she attributed to the Romans during heavy drinking sessions. Curious, we decided to test this theory. Though skeptical about coleslaw's ability to fool a breathalyzer, we found it did seem to prevent us from feeling intoxicated. We consumed an enormous quantity of coleslaw; I prepared 3 gallons, and together we ate nearly all of it. As regular drinkers, we had high alcohol tolerance. I recall finishing almost a half-case of beer with my girlfriend, who became inebriated after just one bottle, while I felt unaffected by the 11 I consumed. To begin our experiment, we shared a quart of 80 proof vodka. An hour later, feeling sober, we purchased a case of Triola wine, a 14% alcohol content wine popular in 1972. We each downed a bottle within an hour and still felt clear-headed, confirmed by two friends monitoring us. Over the next two hours, we each drank five more bottles. Remaining unaffected, we then split a case of 3.2% beer, drinking 12 beers each without feeling any impact, and eventually went to bed out of boredom. The next morning, we awoke hangover-free. Despite the lack of intoxication making the experience dull, it did seem to validate the coleslaw theory.

You guys did any test on how high your levels were? it might be that the coleslaw reduced the feeling of being drunk, or that it slowed the alcohol metabolism.
@Kraakesolv

All that text and nothing but anecdotal evidence at best. All that drink and coleslaw yet no cheap, single use breath tests. I bet the coleslaw was the modern variant as well, not the Roman version. I found zero records of ancient coleslaw being used by Romans for anything but eating and none of the ingredients in the Roman version will do anything special to alcohol or somehow hinder it more than any other food generally will. So, do it again and use tests! And do a control as well.

Too bad those analog heads didn't exist back in these days. Those analog heads you could add saline solution to to mimic ahead so much better. Cuz the chemistry of your blood along with your head itself plays a huge factor. Regular ballistics gel is not conductive at all compared to a human head full of blood

Is stainless steel more conductive than a human body made of majority water? What if someone had a gold tongue piercing, would that cause different results?

The reason you can't beat the breath tester is because those things are so poorly designed that even people who haven't had anything to drink test positive.

Man, they really didn't contact any actual scientists to actually analyze what was happening. 1) That's a tiny fraction of an actual lightning bolt, so it may behave NOTHING like an actual lightning bolt. 2) Just because it attracted it, doesn't mean it needs a direct hit. That's assuming ABSURD accuracy for a lightning bolt!

What they didn't try at the breath test was just washing your mouth out with water and then swallowing it.

You realize that most clients of a piercing shops are regulars right? The piercer would know if one of her regulars was struck by lightning. The regular would have told her.
