The hardest part to believe about the murders is how the hell did those neighbors not hear those six gunshots?
@toddkilby8582
@toddkilby8582 2 года назад
That's a good question , but I think I answer is acoustics . Ron shot his family in the month of November . At that time of year I'm sure all windows were closed . The bedrooms themselves would contain some of the blast , and it was around 3 to 3:30 am . People are most likely sleeping at that time. If neighbors were awake at that time and nothing else was on in their homes (tv , radio ) It wouldn't be much more than a soft pop , if that. The reason I know is that I have experience with indoor shooting ranges.
@dspencer1969

Why didn't the residents of the house wake up while all that shooting was going on?
@Rob-sk1im
@Rob-sk1im 2 года назад
@@dspencer1969 I've read that some mental health experts believe that the younger children may have been frozen in fear and that is why they chose not to hide. It's believed that both girls woke up and looked at the shooter prior to being shot. It's been further hypothesized that Dawn did wake up after hearing the shots and confronted Ronnie from the third floor stairway and asked him what the noise was and he told her to go back to bed that everything was okay.

some residents are fair game about it, and some are just sick of the drama surrounding the house. then again said drama would not exist if it was not for the circus of bullshit that George lutz spun.

I think they actually did a facade at one of their studios that way to make it look more evil for the movies for some of the exterior shots of the house. Seeing the house IRL, it really looks very little like the movie version, other then the barn style roof and colonial era architecture.

Want privacy ? Then I wouldn't suggest purchasing the most famous "haunted house" in the world. If you can't beat em, join em! Someone should buy the home, and set up a bed and breakfast. Would make a killing (no pun intended), and would stop all of the delusional friction caused by tourist and the homes host of owners who command privacy. Not happening, be it horror or hoax. "Is the house really haunted? You tell us! Spend the night and find out!"

Interesting visit driving on the streets to the house. Changing the really cool and eerie "eye" windows and the street address of the house doesn't fool anyone. They should restore the eye windows back to the original look. A shame one of the past owners had did it. I'm sure whenever the house gets resold by new owners they and the neighbors are quite aware of people wanting to film the house, and are used to it by now, despite the looks they give you. Thank you for the trip. I appreciate seeing for the first time this famous house in the context of the town and neighborhood where it's located. Maybe seven or eight years ago at work my supervisor and I were the only ones present and he said my name and asked, "...would you live in the Amityville house?" I said I would though the heating bill would be huge. If a house had a tragic or violent history but was in the right location and met my needs and I wanted it for my home, the event or events of the past wouldn't keep me from buying the house. I would have respect for what had happened but I wouldn't let it control me. More realistically than hypothetically, if I lived on the east coast and was looking for a house I wouldn't pick the Ocean Avenue house. It's a beautiful home in a beautiful area and even if I could afford to buy and live in the house it's simply too big for me and I wouldn't be willing to spend what would be needed for utilities, electricity, taxes and maintenance and I'm guessing the house dates back to the 1920's.----I wonder what it's like to live next door or across the street and to be always seeing the house and possibly reminded of the past there over and over. Is the past of this house an invisible but always present neighbor?---I'm intrigued with the Ocean Avenue house and also with the house in which the Clutter family was murdered in 1959, their deaths being the reason for Truman Capote's book "In Cold Blood".---Another Long Island house in which I'm interested is the now famous Grey Gardens mansion in East Hampton.

It would not be a good idea because it would bring down the property value of the other homes in the neighborhood. Out there in Amityville Long Island they like to keep things quiet it's a very very bad mark on that neighborhood and it's one that they would like to forget. One thing they do not like his people stopping to look at the house and videotape it it pisses them off.

Great video... I was there earlier today in Long Island on business and I decided to come check out the house ... I didn’t wanna stay too long so I just snapped a quick pic as I approached the Stop sign ... then I left out of respect for the neighbors ... I went to the side and saw the lake which was connected to their boat house ... nice and quiet area...

That was very interesting, it isn't everyday you get a chance to view a house that has become synonymous with murder, looking at the house in the bright of a lovely sunny evening, it looks like a perfectly normal house, one would expect to see family activity going on, it appears so calm and tranquil, the murders that took place opened the door to the famous Amityville Horror novel, which told of demonic possession and other paranormal occurences, is there any truth in it, I don't think so......it is so easy to be caught up in the sensationalism that the book and film created, and as such the house has become stigmatised, and associated with all things demonic and unholy, It is a beautiful house on an equally beautiful drive, and one can only wonder what will eventually become of the house, personally I wouldn't have any issue with living in it, I think Jay Anson and Hollywood have done this fine property a huge disservice, this house should be inhabited with a good family and it's rooms ringing out with laughter, and not left to dwell in it's macabre history.

i'm quite surprised that this house is still standing today, given its ongoing association with horror on the most authentic level (an entire family murdered) and of course forever made infamous by Hollywood magic. This house could have just as easily been leveled while building an entirely new home on the property; after all, it is the house that holds the story, more so than the land it sits on. Having said that; I am happy the house remains. I believe this house will forever be of the peoples mind and conscientiousness; therefor, if not already, I think this house should be registered and protected as an official New York landmark.
@lightsparanormal

+Mallery Williams I'm not positive but I want to say at some point of research years ago they were going to tear it down but it became a historical landmark. So it's protected. I want to say that's around the time they changed the half-moon windows on it to disguise it and have it blend in more to the neighborhood.
@gijoe6529

+Mallery Williams I think even this house got put down and new one build after... Still can feel something.... I also wonder will this house affect the property price which is next to this house.
@anotherbiracialbeauty
@anotherbiracialbeauty 8 лет назад
Probably very little in most terms... simply because these homes are on water with access to the ocean. Buyers looking for that perk would be more limited in available properties; therefore more willing to overlook a potential haunting. Haha. ;)

Finally a Amityville video that doesn't look like it was recorded with damn toaster. That being said, thanks for making the video. I've always wanted a first-hand view of the house but I don't do New York. Has that property always been that small or have houses been built closer since the movie was released. The movie made that property look huge. And I really wish they hadn't changed those iconic upstairs windows.
@lightsparanormal
@lightsparanormal 8 лет назад
+AzzKicKeR52 Thank you for your comment and the compliment! We always use high definition equipment as that has a better chance of being able to distinguish any anomalies or evidence we may capture. The house and it's property hasn't changed much throughout the years except for address number, updating of the exterior, and like you mentioned, changing of the iconic windows.

@lightsparanormal
@lightsparanormal 8 лет назад
+AzzKicKeR52 That's one of the many questions frequently asked about that night. The sound of a .35 Marlin Rifle 336 is pretty loud; for the amount of shots fired, it would've and should've woken someone up, both in the DeFeo house and surrounding neighbors.
