I cried when this played as Hanawa said to Joryu "Joryu, you really are the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased his Name." during the ending.

Hands down, Kiryu-san has one of the most beautiful voices ever. You can practically feel his sadness and loneliness. I really hope in Infinite Wealth, he'll be reunited with his kids once again.

I was born in 2003 and I've played Resident Evils, Silent Hills, Metal Gear, I also have conpleted 100% RDR2, of course Cods, +1000h in Battlefield 1, Uncharted, Tlou1 and 2, Death Stranding, Gtas, Zelda, Call of Juarez, Halo, Bloodborne, Dark souls, Elden Ring, God Of war, Days Gone, Rachet And Clank, Minecraft, Doom And Doom ETernal, Dayz, La Noire, Need For Speed, Transformers, Sleeping Dogs and many more... Although I dont have started even one of any of this Yakuza Saga games I know they are wonderful. Its really saddening when you think about it: No matter what happens in this game or in Infinite Wealth, Kiryu will never be able to truly live out the rest of his days in peace. He will never leave the madness and chaos of the criminal underworld all because he was too powerful in his time in it and became too big a thorn on its side. And worst of all, he can never be allowed to see his family again, whether it be his family in the Yakuza or Haruka. He will die ultimately alone in the world despite the massive positive impact he has had in many, many peoples' lives, especially children.

The transition at 3:27 almost made me cry, gave me the chills...

I could go on forever about what Kiryu represents and how filling those shoes means throwing them out and getting newer bolder ones, but honestly I like how he won't let an old friend give up who they are. Pocket Circuit fighter is just one person in a long list of people whose lives are better because Kiryu came into it. Poor guy often thinks him being there had the opposite effect, and maybe he'll never see it, but luckily it seems there are others who see this and get his back when it counts most. It's HOPE i find in life because of this seemingly silly game franchise.

Without having played the last two recent Yakuza games, having Kiryu sing this song with Fighter appearing reminds me of the Irish song Absent Friends by Davey Arthur and the Fureys, Previously Kiryu would reminisce about failed romance but now it's like life is catching up and he's looking back at the people who have come and gone from his life and yet he remains burdened by the missed opportunities by sacrificing everything for the Clan.

I sang this song to my fiancé's belly when she was pregnant with our daughter; now the little one is almost 2 and I use this song as a lullaby whenever I put her to sleep. During the day if she hears it, she'll come running and start dancing. This song is a big part of our lives, thank you Sega

It's hard for me to get all worked up over videogame soundtracks, but there's a few select songs that just completely pierce my heart and make me cry in the most genuine way, and this is absolutely one of them, the video was the real kicker here, all these years, the song of life... Thank you SEGA, for bringing us Yakuza!

I beat Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Yesterday. As someone who started this franchise in October 2022 with Yakuza 0 and spent the next year going through 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and Like a Dragon (7) I found myself in ugly tears and snot running by the time I reached the end of the game. Life has felt empty for me as of late, hard to get motivated for a lot, but this franchise has given me so much to get invested in, a world filled with colorful characters to fall in love with, from the serious crime drama to the wacky shenanigans. I eagerly await Infinite Wealth (8) to come out and even currently have Judgement and Ishin on backlog to start.

I was doing this perfectly then broke the combo chain by missing a beat because I started laughing when I saw that photo of kiryu and fighter in the music video

At first (before playing Gaiden), I was worried that RGG was going to throw away all the beloved stuff about kiryu and his "legend", but this game really puts in a love letter throughout his whole journey. I'm not even finished with the game and I'm satisfied with its preservation of kiryu's character

Honestly, at this point, I think we should've taken this song as foreshadowing. Because Kiryu really has been a fool by running away from his problems constantly. But, he has at least one chance to change that now. Here's hoping he does.
