Like a Dragon: Ishin is a spinoff of the Yakuza series, but it is also so much more than that, as we explore in this video. Yakuza films and samurai films have a long history in Japanese cinema, and they're actually more closely related than many might think (thematically, at least). This game serves as a clever way of exploring that link, while also giving us an amazing historical fantasy to play through.

I glad we can drop the yakuza name and call this series the Japanese name of ryu ga gotaku aka like a dragon, so I will call yakuza 0-7 like a dragon 0-7 just like it is in japan not the western seriesname of yakuza, I guess u didn’t hear that the next mainline game is call like a dragon 8, no longer the English name, ryu ga gotaku 8

huh! i had no idea. that changes things. i didn't get into Yakuza specifically because of the name until just recently when I gave in and tried them out.

I didn't actually know that either. "Yakuza" is a fitting title of course, but I like Like A Dragon too - especially if they are going to do more of these non-Yakuza Yakuza games in the future lol.

@@DigitallyDownloaded when u think about it the English name doesn’t make sense when u think about how kiryu is never in the yakuza in these games, even in zero they find a way to kick him out of the yakuza in the first chapter, of course ichiban in 7 gets kick out of the yakuza do to his prison time and anyone who play 7 for spoilers reasons the yakuza seems to be playing a smaller role in future games and u see that effect in lost judgement which takes place after 7 compare to the first judgment where the yakuza were a lot more involved.
