TBH, I'm more impressed by the 8 simultaneous matches than the blindfold. Playing 1 guy blindfolded is something most skilled chess players can do. Playing 8 at the same time? Although I have not heard the term used in relation to bishop & knight, I refer to that type of position as an opposition, much like enemy kings sharing a file or rank but one square apart. In the centre of the board, the enemy bishop/knight have four squares in common. Near the edge or corner, that number shrinks to three or two.

@Daniel Burke All great chess players have excellent memories whether it be long term to remember many games for a long time, or short term as a cache for calculating lines. While Morphy truly is incredible, it should be obvious from looking at his games that there wasn't the same need to calculate as deeply back then as there is now with the help of engines. I would say that you are very wrong if you think that Magnus and other top chess players do not have an incredible capability to calculate lines they haven't seen before; they most certainly do, but when faced with engine lines that can calculate 40-50 moves deep it is natural for there to be inaccuracies. Morphy never had to calculate this deeply nor accurately because he wasn't facing opponents who had the vast chess knowledge we had today. All in all, it is wrong to claim that Morphy was a better player than Magnus. He was certainly a better player than anyone of renown in his time and clearly he had a set of skills that is still essential for top chess players today, but would he be the best? We can never say and it is silly to make any claims.

If not, he will secure the bishop disabling the pishop pair advantage Morphy had. I believe that this actually favours Senguine rather than 'capturing for no reason.
