Child marriage has been an issue in India for a long time. Because of its root in traditional, cultural and religious practises, it has been a hard battle to fight. Child marriage is also associated with other problems like dowry and child widowhood. It is also associated with malnutrition, poor health of mothers and high fertility and hence over-population. To create more awareness against Child marriage and how it affects a child's life, childline is created in this short film. The death of her best friend due to miscarriages and abortions caused by child marriage leads to a strong transformation in Priya. She channelises her sorrow to help empower young girls to take the right decisions at the right age.

Some people in India don't realize children shouldn't be married at such an age. I am from India and I am lucky to be away from child marriage. But others are not so fortunate. This video helps others learn about these horrible occurrences. Thank you, Childline for helping my country.

This broke my heart. It also NEEDS to be shown in the US. Many Indians/Pakistanis/Muslims STILL practice child marriage by sending their children to their parent's home countries. Thank God for CHILDline.

I feel bad for this two best friends... they were inseparable friends until Priya's friend(Maya) got married very young and passed away few years later, also, Maya's husband was like didn't care about her death. This video is an example and shows how bad child marriages are, many people there in South/Southeast/East/West Asia practice child marriage, mainly in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal for example. Woah! What’s the rush in getting married now? Just focus on your studies then think about marriage. Child Marriage is actually illegal in India & in many other countries but the government rarely enforces it. It is wrong for someone under 16 or 18 (depending on where you live) to marry & have sex. We must put a stop to it!

Prya was pretty lucky to say no to child marriage because it puts millions of women in poverty and becoming victims of domestic violence and sexual transmitted diseases like aids. For Prya she decides to stay in school, go to college or university to get a degree on child protection services and and she gets to decide who she wants to marry and when she'll get married and she can choose when to have children and how many. But unfortunately for prya's best friend maya she wasn't so lucky because her parents pressure her to dropped out of school and forced her to marry a man who is twice older her age because they believe it's best for her but for Prya she knows that might be a big mistake.

Don't worry, laws are going to develop more greatly in feature. Prohibition of child marriage 2006: Boys/girls under the age of majority can't be married and life sentence is atleast 25 years. Or in some cases, lifetime. According to this act, Minimum age for boys to marry is set at 21 years. And for girls, 18. So, 18 years old boys can't marry, but they can develop some relationship (Like gf).
