This is a nice at home foot spa that is pretty easy to use right out of the box. It comes with 4 locking castors that you will need to snap into the base of the unit, but other than that there is no assembly required. I initially did have some trouble getting these castors to seat properly as they do not push in easily. I finally had to use a soft mallet to create enough force to get them into their proper position.
When you remove the cover you will see 6 massage rollers (3/foot) that are designed to focus on the entire foot. The front and back rollers are designed to massage the ball of the foot and heel through rolling acupressure. The middle roller is designed to reach and massage the arch of the foot. Between the motorized foot rollers is a medicine compartment where herbs or epsom salt can be placed if desired. However, over time epsom salt can erode the metal components of the machine, so if you decide to use it, realize that it may limit the lifespan of your unit.
Also inside is a plastic two-rowed shower head attached to the top of the lid directly in front of where your legs will sit in the basin. The shower head has a small lip on it that can be used to angle the head toward the ankles by gently pushing down into one of two angled options, or this shower head can be left in its original position to aim toward the shins. The on/off shower option is controlled by pressing the button on the unit’s control panel.
The top of the foot spa features an LED control panel that is very clearly labeled for intuitive use. Once the unit has been filled with water, being careful not to fit above the MAX level line, which is found on the right wall of the basin, and plugged in the water will automatically begin heating to the default temperature of 108 degrees. This temperature can be manually changed using the +/- temperature buttons. Temperatures can be set anywhere in the range from 95-118 degrees. The shower option can be used to test that the temperature of the water is correct before placing feet into the basin.
Once the set temperature is reached the massage function will automatically begin. The default working time is 60 minutes, but both the working time and massage function can be adjusted and turned on/off manually at the level of the control panel. The timer can be set anywhere from 10-60 minutes. Finally there is an option on the panel to add red light to the basin adding a bit of ambiance to the whole foot massage experience. All of these options work together to make this a totally customized experience.
Clean up is very straight forward. You may opt to run a sanitation cycle using a sanitizer sold separately just for foot spas. If not, once unplugged, the entire basin can be carried to the sink using the built in handle to drain and then rinse out with tap water. To drain the water in the basin there is a flexible capped hose clipped in to the front of the unit. The hose can be detached from its clip, uncapped and angled down to the drain. When fully drained simply recap and replace the hose. The massaging roller plate for the feet will lift out as one piece allowing it to be cleaned separately. The unit can then be dried, the roller plate dried and replaced, the cover put back on and then stored in a cool dry place until the next use.
