@@pilgaarden9141 That's the point of the metaphor tho - their relationship was struggling for a long time and they struggled to decide what they wanted to do. Hence the indecisiveness with running it over.
@@josephkirkman3864 I disagree, I think for almost all other episodes in season 1 they didn't show to have relationship problems. I can only think of their disagreement in the bedroom, wich seemed to be resolved.
@@pilgaarden9141 Despite a seemingly great relationship, Ally and Dave's conflicting priorities led to their eventual demise. ally wanted Dave to prioritize her, while Dave wanted the same from Ally. Unfortunately, their desires didn't align, causing the relationship to fail. Timing and differing expectations played a significant role, and although they cared for each other, their incompatible needs prevented their relationship from succeeding.
I have to disagree on the Rachel Mccadams commentary. Rachel is supposed to represent Dave's idealistic woman in comparison to Robyn. She embodies the "unachievable perfect girl" that Robyn references in their fight at the end when they break up. Dave has even mentioned Rachel by name in past episodes as his 'dream girl'. I think it really adds to the theme of season 3 which is Dave setting unrealistic expectations for love.
That is a great analysis, that I didn't even think of Maybe it would have been nice to have more of an emphatsis on that in their scenes together or maybe a little more fletching out in the finale. Also, a lot shown between Robyn and Dave was very hooney-moon fase perfection.
This. I 100% took it as Dave choosing his "idea" of a perfect woman over a woman that in many ways is perfect for him. I remember that scene of him and ally by the pool where she even scolds him over holding the people around him to too high of a standard and for not accepting that people are flawed. He's always striving for perfection in everything he does and in his mind, Rachel McAdams is the perfect partner (despite them knowing next to nothing about one another on a personal level). A big theme of the show I feel is how fame can breed selfishness and I think Rachel's lack of character development was done purposefully to help nail that theme home by having Dave choose her over Robyn.
@@thatcrankywalrus Maybe when i revisit this series for the next season i'm able to see these points more clearly. I will certainly take them to consideration
great show, but completely disagree with you about your take on having celebs in the show. he's not an idiot, they were there for a reason. s3 was the best for me, but love the whole show
It’s a weird show. The lines between comedy/ drama/ and strange awkward sexual childish cringey moments. It just doesn’t resonate with me. I had some laughs but almost as many wincing moments.
