FX's new comedy "DAVE" features the pseudo-serious replication of Dave Burd and his rise to stardom as Lil Dicky. It works on a lot of different levels.

Yes! I really needed a good review on this show especially after watching the “Dave made me angry” video which was too biased and made me angry! But I’ve just been wanting someone to talk about this show on RU-vid or something thank you!!

Somehow I even really enjoy the mundane stuff in the show. It's just a great, late night, chill type of thing. With all the Disney+ etc type shows, I just need something that's not super high concept. This is perfect for the switch up.

The only time I thought the humor went too far is when Dave shit in the woods. I just thought that scene was pointless haha. I love this show though. There is a lot of real shit being talked about on here.

Disagree because Dave is a horrible character. He’s painful to root for and never learns from his bad decision. He’s toxic and the show has no structure. Season 2 is even worse; there’s no consequences for Dave’s action for the entire “Dave not doing the album” arc. The show kinda feels like stand alone scenes with funny dialogue sometimes.

That’s interesting. I don’t think I realized until your comment that I really was NOT rooting for Dave at all, but I still really enjoyed both season one and season two. This is gonna sound like a shameless plug, but I have a season two review in the works now. When it comes out, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. It hits a lot on how him being a bad person drives a lot of the great parts of the show. In regard to the lack of consequences, you’re right in that we don’t see much harm done to him in terms of his music career, but his mentality and stress cause a LOT of consequences between he and his friends, and I think that’s more the goal of the show. Anyway, I appreciate the comment!
