World of Dance 2010 is coming up this weekend in Pomona, CA so we thought we'd search through our footage and see if we missed posting anything from last year's event....Whoops. Enjoy.
Lil Rock: "yo check out this power set" 2:05 Born: "that's it???" 2:22 Although no words were ever spoken, a battle must ALWAYS be a conversation between two people. Also: 3:52 BUUUUUUUUUUURN haha
12 years ago and im back! Man... I still think that if I was battling Born, and he laughed and smacked the ground as hard as he did after lil rock crashed... I probably would just go home after that. hahaha
@TheBboySpartan a westcoast legend and innovator of what a lot of bboys do today especiallyy freezes hes been around as long as ruen and frankie flav from what i know
@akatsu24 Thank you for saying what you're said. I feel like as dancing reaches a wider audience, more people want it to become all happy sappy so that the intensity of the dance doesn't make them feel bad. This is the culture, and to weaken it by making it more accessible would tear away the passion people have for this dance. You can see it in this battle, when Lil Rock started harassing Born a lil bit, Lil Rock started crashing and Born got to Lil Rock's head through that heat.
because it's difficult and it's masculine/competitive to pursue a challenge? trying to cross the line is what hip hop is about. you define it, no one else matters when you're dancing.
yo send another one to the burned victims unit cuz born smoked lil rock and is it me or did he battle like a chump "don't touch me" when he was in the way then took his hat 2 seconds after he said that
@TheBboySpartan you may not like him but he is in a lot of peoples books, he is in killafornia for a reason like other westcoast pioneer legends like crumbs ruen and machine if you know your history you would know this, way before youtube and even born :)
@darkapaul, HA respect? u gotta earn respect through battle, in the middle of the battle all respect is lost, no rules except for no touching, a battle IS a fight, it IS war, respect is earned
@theoreticallyrad It's a battle. Key Word : BATTLE. You ever hear the phrase "battle ready" ? It means being ready for anything. This is no different. Bboys will trash talk you, laugh, step in your territory, and take your stuff all in an attempt to throw you off your game, and clown you. Lil Rock has been around for ages, he began his career in an era which this was common place. Still is a lot of the time. Don't take it at face value.
@petervsays What's a webster ? The limit is a very fine line. That line is determined by how far you go, and your intention. A hat is a hat, a lot of bboys have a million of them. Nothing to fight about. They're used to many battle personas so, they shrug most things off. Like I said a lot of bboys expect that behavior, and are quick to dish it back. Fighting over such trivial matters often just shows inexperience/hot headedness.
@EnigmaticElement im pretty sure if i was to battle you and take your hat and throw it on the ground and do a webster on it. you'd probably want to fight me. theres a limit to how much a "battle swagger" goes.
@darkapaul, lol well ty for saying that, attitude is a key ingredient. But thats the thing, the point IS to get you mad, dont you see? taking someones hat shows ur clowning them, and gets them mad, it either makes the battle more heated, or they mess up more. Back in the day, bboys used to tear each others shirts off each other, to taking a hat is nothing. and people can talk all they want, but i guarantee u lil rock knows more about respect than they do, a battle is war, its a fight, show it.
Born is better because he has battled internationally, has experience in all aspects, power, foundation, rocking, musicality. Lil Rock is good, been breaking a long ass time, but his style has barely changed over the course of like 15 years. He cant leave America, his style is stagnant. He's big in LA, if at all, that's about it. Born is recognized worldwide repping Rivers, MZK, Flava Squad, Floor Gangz, ya dig?
TheJame1025 sorry but there were plenty of United States only bboy’s that could have smoked born, ground zero, skillz method, OSA, Circle of Fire, etc etc. born just repeated the same clean moves and clowned roc when he got upset. Roc lost to smooth footwork and a better attitude. Besides rock leans on his headstands to steal the set but he was to upset to hold anything.
Actually i feel i want to say i'm sorry about my rudeness to you. I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking much about what you are going to feel about my comment. I'm sorry.
@THEDANCEBAND lol borns footwork is not weak. i think the better explanation is that it was a bad match up. 1 guy focusing on the footwork and the other on the power, but if it was a real battle lil rock did crash so eh i am learning towards born. he crashed harddddddd
@loldierofldiekatz Ok. One, I didn't insult you in any way so please refrain from doing so with me. Two, you said "Born smoked that fool. " Therefore, I mentioned that Lil Rock was not at his best in this battle, he was sluggish, and had a lot less flow than he usually does.
Sure rock would smoke me, but imagine if I, a nobody battled rock and acted like every one of his sets was complete shit. People would think I was on crack..... That's what watching lil roc battles is like. Lots of acting, not a lot of breaking. He is out there battling though, reppin. Props for that
