Okay. I'm going to give my two-cents (actually it's more like $17.83 given the sheer length) on 'My Immortal.' Some may say I'm being overly harsh... but with something like this, there is NO two-ways about it; no beating around the bush; not enough words to mince. There are the good fanfic writers, who, in spite of the temptation to make a Mary Sue/ Marty Stu type character, or to engage in the "Wish Fulfillment" of writing themselves into a story with their heroes and idols, nevertheless don't sacrifice the quality of the story for their self-indulgence; then there are the bad fanfic writers, who leave a ton of plot holes in the progression of the story, who make characters behave in a way that they never did in the source material (for all sakes and purposes making a "New" character, merely wearing the skin of the original), in addition to the previously outlined faults; and then... oh, lawd; and then, there's THIS fanfiction. [ _O Fortuna_ from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff suddenly kicks in; everything begins ramping up, to an intense degree ] There's _MY IMMORTAL_ , a work so notoriously bad that it almost becomes an urban legend among fanfic writers, an exercise in absolutely everything you're not supposed to do, and then, it goes above and beyond to discover new ways to be impressively terrible. It ceases to be merely 'one or two mistakes' and rapidly snowballs into being, 'There's NO WAY all of this was unintentional! How could ANYBODY be so solipsistically bad at writing, so narrow-minded and adverse to criticism that they proactively curse out their readers at the beginning of EVERY chapter, telling them that they just don't get them!' "Surely it must be a crack fiction," you say. If so, then it's crack fiction devoid of the pleasant aspects of cocaine addiction, leaving only the unpleasant health problems, so that your gums commence bleeding and your teeth rot out of your mouth; your flesh breaks out in infected sores from the itching discomfort; you suffer insomnia from the confusing, unholy imagery painted within the pages, haunting your dreams and resisting even the most scouring of brain bleaches; the lack of sleep emaciates you and makes you paranoid and jittery from wondering what's real anymore! This has to be a troll of some kind! This just cannot be written in abject, horrifying sincerity! But no, this malign leper messiah of shitty writing emerges from the feculent swamp of logorrhea: pure, unfiltered, absurd stream of consciousness ranting, made even more maddening by the utter lack of grammatical or orthographic... _anything_ that even the most hopelessly dyslexic or illiterate person would say, 'I know that this is wrong; it's not just me! Everybody agrees that the words are messed up!' This STD-ridden overly-horny and pointlessly edgelord-y piece of maniacal confabulation is the work of someone so detached from reality in the hateful depths of their own delusional self-importance that they come across as whining about the 'Preppy' people, aligning themselves with the 'Goffs (Goths),' but in such an inarticulate, deranged way that actual true Goths would be like, 'Hey; don't drag us into this! We aren't affiliated with you!' and back away in fear slowly from the madwoman (at least I think they're a woman; I dunno, but how could someone frequently misspell the name of their own reproductive organs and describe sex in the most childish and unintelligent way possible; if that's the case, I'm scared for humanity... I'M DEEPLY FRIGHTENED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE SPECIES HOMO SAPIENS) who wrote this unhinged crap! Seriously, the story has NOTHING in common with _Harry Potter_ beyond the name of some places and characters, but then takes them and does weird, weird, creepy things with them! It's like that plot-point from _The Producers_ where the two producers (Zero Mostel and Gene WIlder) are deliberately trying to make the worst play ever, _Springtime for Hitler_ in the hopes that the show will be so ludicrously terrible that it will fail, all the while earning greater profits from overselling shares to investors... except that there's no monetary benefit to it! Except that the writer sincerely, absolutely believed in this garbage idea, and did it without expecting anything in return, other than people praise it! It's so overwhelmingly bad that people mistake it for Poe's Law ('without a clear indicator of author's intent, any parodic or sarcastic expression of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of those views')... except the author, in their efforts to shout down their detractors, affirm that they are being 100% serious about everything they write! It's so bad that it makes Tom Green's _Freddy Got Fingered_ seem like a coherent, well-put together story! It's so bizarre that it makes Tommy Wisseau's _The Room_ look normal! It's so over-the-top and brain-melting trying to comprehend what you're reading that you'd honestly have a better time gazing into the Ark of the Covenant, or staring at the Sun, or summon Cthulhu, or trying to make sense of the visual stimuli you're receiving while in the midst of experiencing a stroke; that's what reading 'My Immortal' feels like it's doing to my brain! It makes me hurt myself in trying to understand something that falls outside the realm of understanding, falling squarely in the realm of the disturbing! So, go! RUN! I beg- -no, IMPLORE you! Save yourself! Don't look back lest you turn into a pillar of salt and be struck dead by the writing found in this thing! You have a life to live! [ _it is at this moment that the commentor falls into a weeping, broken shell of a man, divested of his sanity, and left only with his regrets, the unwanted images of vampire goth girls cutting themselves while attending wizarding schools, playing in their bands, and being moods, and everybody's fucking everybody else like animals in estrus or heat and I DON'T WANNA THINK ABOUT THIS ANYMORE_ ]

I'm scared that if i actually read this through and through (and not just listening whilst doing something else), I would be gain such illiteracy that I can't comprehend basic sentences.

@@relicscraps I hope that Internet Historian is okay; I've watched some of his later videos and his avatar looks more bedraggled and less 'silly.' Which makes me think that this story is such a mindfuck that it somehow manages to hurt not only the man, but his _online avatar as well_ !

She also doesn't know the difference between goths and emos, with most of her characters (and the bands they stan) falling quite squarely into the latter category.

It was worth the wait.

The strongest argument for this being a work was always that it's too entertaining, too funny, too... perfectly bad. Like, a genuine attempt would have a lot more stuff like the endless clothing descriptions that go into just 'this is actually boring and pointless'. It's like the difference between natural speech patterns and dialogue on TV shows.

He didnt animate it wrong, the author mixed the names up so that Filth (Filch, the janitor) was actually the cat
