I am a guy but always loved the name Lilith and in my eyes what she stood for, which your video eloquently explained. I begged my wife to name our first daughter Lilith but she already had a name in mind so in my eyes she gets dibs on the name since she gave birth to her, but she said that if I wanted to we could have her middle name Lilith. My daughter is 9 months and I feel very proud that her middle name is Lilith. when she gets older I can't wait to tell her the story of Lilith and why the name was very special to me and I hope it gives her sense of pride and strength. Some time ago, I was asked for some help to link a lady with a Demon/Goddess that had been 'hanging around her' for years. She thought it was Hecate but it turned out to be Lilith. I was at a crystal shop they had a display of necklaces and I was pulled to turn it around and there she was! She was eye level on the wrong peg!! Lilith has been calling out to me for a long while but I never did feel a pull as strong as that day! So now I wear her every day and learning more and more about her!

The only thing missing from this excellent video is an acknowledgement that there are male witches in the world. Some pretty significant ones, too. Gerald Gardner, Aleister Crowley, Alex Sanders, Robert Cochrane come to mind. We really need to come to terms with this as a community. Are men witches or warlocks? Everyone keeps saying don't call male witches warlocks and 'witch' is gender neutral. Yet, here this video is.

This does not apply to all witches. Lillith can't be seen as the first witch worldwide, but may from a western standpoint. Magick has been prevalent in ancient societies before Babylon and Sumeria, notably in Afrika. We're traditionally very magical and spiritual peoples, but colonization drove that out of us and made us fear it.

So if Lilith originated in Sumer and Babylon, that would mean she is older than the Genesis creation story depending on when it was written. Most scholars from what I have seen say it dates to the 10th century at the earliest and during the Babylonian exile at the latest. I've always been interested in where the story of Lilith came from, so much great mythology that is part of the human experience seems to have been lost after Abrahamic religions became so prevalent. There are movements I have seen in both Christian and Islamic societies where people are rediscovering these stories.

this is nice but be very cautious of separating lilith from her jewish context and adopting her as a goddess. she might be similar to the lilin demons of ancient sumerian mythology but she is not the same thing. and she is also not the same thing as her recent media portrayals. in judaism she is not someone to be messed with at all and it would be discouraged that she be used as a dark goddess for pagan worship.

Lilith is not part of the Judo Christian myth. She's mentioned only in one Passage Isaiah 34. The part where people think she's mentioned in Genesis is just two stories to Cobble together so it seems like God created women twice. This idea that Lilith is Adam's first wife comes from Jewish Scholars from 700 to 1000 ad when they were re-evaluating the Book of Genesis and realized that woman was created twice. Not realizing that it was a cobbled-together story from two separate creation myths that wasn't edited properly for retranslation. Lilith has just as much to do with the Christian/ Jewish God as Leviathan. Just more stories of people stealing myth from other people

As a guy who's always felt drawn to the Sacred Feminine in my spiritual path, I've come to see Mary and Lilith as respective symbols of humility and agency, both of which I think are necessary traits to achieve a well-adjusted social and mental aptitude. You have to know when to stand up for yourself in the face of a hostile crowd and when to step back and ride the waves. I don't pretend to be able to identify with either figure from the context of a woman, but it does bother me that Mary was put on a pedestal not for her humility but for her obedience and submissiveness to a male deity, and that Lilith was literally demonized by patriarchal minds for demanding equality with her mate. Women have had to deal with the fallout ever since. I think we should all feel empowered, men and women alike, to reinterpret these religious figures in a way that lifts people up and helps us correct the errors of the past.

Lilith doesn’t exist in the bible she is mentioned as a screeching owl in Isaiah 34:14 but never was she the first wife of Adam because there is no Lilith as a woman. She was a owl in the bible. This was made up to make it appear as though he has a wife before Eve which is false. Eve was the only wife of Adam’s, the story from this ‘’medieval text’ is made up and does not go in line with what the bible.
