She wasn't from Japan. She was born in New York City. Her parents were from Japan and Lilly was bilingual. Lilly DID move to Japan in her old age and kept very low key until her death. The Yokoi family was performing bike tricks as early as the 1950's. There were many bike trick riders before the Yokoi's but this family took it to a whole 'nother level.
