Appreciate you posting this and getting good commentary during the process. I have a 200T that needs to be given this treatment and now I have a reference and motivation. Great camera work. Thank you 👍🏻
What a gem of a film for lover's of these saws. When a very experienced engineer show what and how it's time to sit up and listen and watch especially when finding a quality engineer is difficult and expensive thanks both of you john for his knowledge and Jacob for your channel. Brilliant!
Thanks Gents, I really appreciated the video. I have a 200t and this will help prolong its life. I'm far from a small engine mechanic so any hands on video I can watch regarding the 200t or just chainsaws in general is invaluable. I love running my 200 t as it can certainly rip but every time I use it I'm always thinking about its longevity. Thanks again, great show!
Best thing after rebuild is use VP Racing fuel i use 40;1 its available in 50;1 but the saws last so much longer with the extra oil. It’s not cheap but i have not had to bring the saws in to be worked on! I still run my 020Super AV good job on the break down !using a little air when you change your chain will keep the saw a whole lot cleaner. That dirt and oil traps a lot of heat.
Man Jake you have made the most bestest tree channel known to mankinds existence..that dude could be an instructor teaching us all the whys n how’s we all struggle with..you’ve been such a help/inspiration/all around super slashy slasher…I hope you can come to ky someday and we’ll show you basically how not to do anything…lol fail to win ratio is high round here..keep it up brother…..matt
@@GuiltyofTreeson there’s 1 or 2 decent companies here but in Lexington you could film some real pros doin awesome jobs around beautiful homes with barns and cazillion dollar horse barns..used to be a guy on here had one vid of a removal over 200yr old home but I forgot his name
@@GuiltyofTreeson Iam a tad late to the hillbilly hunt but if your ever back out this way swing up to Ohio we will deff be able to find ya some hillbilly stuff ppl and trees lol 😂
This is an awsome video! John is a master of his craft. I am currently rebuilding an 880 and alot of what he is teaching is helpful to me and anyone rebuilding a saw regardless of model. I like how your channel has a variety of different types of video on various topics within the tree industry. Thanks again for all your hard work.
Absolutely love your channel and your content! I’ve been doin trees for several years and I feel like my skill level has doubled just from watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
Great content Jacob..like your new channel very much!! Great insight on warming up a saw. A lot of guys over here go from zero to WOT right of the bat..allways feels like nails on a chalkboard to me..cheers from Belgium
This particular saw was the best saw EVER MADE BY STIHL! Bought two of them in about 1990 and literally cut down well over a million in contracts with them. Remove brake and spark arrester and no problems. Carb kits were needed every couple of years. Rarely used any other saw even on big stuff. Light. Powerful. Dependable. Used optimal 2 mix exclusively. Still use them but gave me 2 decades of heavy commercial use. Almost unheard of. 🤣
@@GuiltyofTreeson John did a 461 for me a year ago or so and he was able to rebuild my 200t right before he stopped doing them. Quality work from this guy 👌🏼
That was the best by far video on a 200t I have seen. Especially the little ears on the air cleaner cover. I had a friend break one and boom. New piston and cylinder. And they will run for a while with that chunk of meal in them. Definitely a video to bookmark! Thanks Jacob!!!
Thank you for this video and the upcoming ones in the series. Lots of good solid info to help us out. Wish it had been out about a month ago. Because I am now rebuilding my 200t again due to my lack of experience and knowledge. Looking forward to the rest of the videos. Thanks again!
I have one that i just put up for sale!! Actually it runs like a beast.. Took good care of her and all original.. Never been touch.. still has the bosch spark plug
I've only taken one top handle apart in my life. Very different from your standard chainsaw in some ways. Awesome to watch him disassemble it so fast. I've taken apart a number of chainsaws and he is very thorough in his rebuilding! Excellent work!
Awesome video guys! Been following both of you guys for quite some time and am always impressed with you work.Seriously enjoy watching this stuff from people who know what they are talking about. I am in total agreement about the vac/pressure test too. Saved me on a couple fresh dirtbike and saw rebuilds!
Great video Jacob and John. John is absolutely correct, the arb and saw people on Instagram are so nice and helpful. I'm no longer on FB because there's too much drama. I found what looks like the honing tool John spoke of, it's a Osborn NovoFlex Honing Brush. Thanks again that was so informative.
Nice. Glad to see I'm not the only one that impacts off clutches. Stihl classes tell you to never do it, but hundreds of saws later I've yet to have it cause a problem for me.
Your story sounds similar to mine… I started out working on dirt bikes then moved to a Stihl dealer. I have always loved 2smokes. Good video on the 200t! I have a 020t and a 200 clone saw with all stihl internals. They are great platforms
I live in pennsylvania i have 10 new 200T saws i build them every day of the week, i have enough parts on hand to build 4 or 5 all the time. seldom sell any, Thanks Lewis
What! I just did this rebuild last weekend, could have used all of those pro tips. You should have used my saw for the air leak demo, haha. Awesome video, definitely following John
Where i use to work... we had a barrels full of stihl 015s and 020s. Some ran and some didn't. Some were apart. All were trade ins or service estimates that were declared dead. I wish I would of had the insight to part them out. Instead they all ended up in the dump.
I use to own a brand new one, that I have regretted having to give up for years. Now I can't afford one. I admit don't need one, being disabled. But I miss having my 200T more than any other saw. So I bought a Farmatec G111 clone of the ms200t I once had. At least it will feel the same in my hand and maybe it will work good enough for me that I won't be too disappointed. Sorry. I'm just being defensive of not buyinging an OEM Stihl Ms200t. ☺️ Maybe it will hold up fine for me, not making a living with it. 😁 Back to your build video. ☺️
Great video ! Thanks. Getting ready to buy a clone or a parts kit. The only thing I can say about Stihl's "fine engineering" is that it reminds me of an old Saab 6000 my son had as a first car. To replace water bottle, first remove engine. That manifold area is a cluster for a saw of this price. A small width stainless hose clamp would have worked great there.
