I went to noon of violet and got filial love when i had bloody mist S1 gave me 50 potency 3 count and so the rest of the floor i had to treat him like a coughing baby until i got to next floor and could get rid of filial love
The really high stagger bar is exactly to mitigate the self bleed, he staggers himself super early on in the fight then that's done, he can just heal back and run around with a bunch of def and no stagger bar to worry about
as a darkest dungeon fan, i love how weird priest gregor is, he's the flagellant essentially, down to the fact where if you lean into the masochism too far, there is a good chance he'll just die, 10/10 can't wait for dulcinea id
maybe they made his kit to be like his uptie story? He wants to hold back by just guarding the first few turns until he has enough ailing heart to sustain himself hold back against the thirst for blood for so long until he reaches that breaking point
goes further with his s3 aswell he wants to hold back against that unforgivable sin for so long that once it gets released its at full power maybe im just over analyzing though
I mean, yeah, that's exactly what they did, it's kinda crystal clear with "ailing heart" and "bloodied hands", he flagellates himself on S1 and S2 to uphold the clarity of his mind and then at some point goes insane to regain blood to survive, being stuck in a cycle of regret and anger just to keep alive.
Some words of advice from someone who LOVES this playstyle and thinks this ID is seriously powerful (not the speedrun kind of powerful, the never dies kind of powerful): -This ID greatly benefits from extra slots, mostly because you get to use his Guard to accelerate the gimmick, once he has all that Aching Heart he stops spending so much bleed on s2 and starts healing so much when low on health... I think it would be fun to run a bleed team where I double slot him and Outis -Speaking of his Guard, it's the reason fighting against bleed isn't so bad, you can spend a bunch of it by doing the Guard once per turn then clash the rest away -You do in fact want him to lose his stagger threshold as soon as possible and then fight that way. Bloodfiends greatly benefit from longer fights in general, and in modes where your health carries over (like MD) it might be a good idea to NOT heal him above his stagger threshold, so that he doesn't have to deal with it ever again (sitting at around 50% is surprisingly safe with just how much health and defense he has) -Even if the damage gets out of control... if you can get to 5 lust, he has an unrelenting passive, this combined with how much his S3 heals on use can bring him back even from the worst situations If this ID has any weaknesses is that his s1 isn't anything special, the damage in general isn't notable (outside of s3) and that without proper care the bleed could get out of control, what you get in exchange is an unkillable unit that feeds into the Bloodfeast mechanic while also applying some decent bleed, and it makes me look forward to what the full Bloodfiend team will look like.
His main weakness is that he don't go very well if you play him like that with Barber Outis too. He great to generate Bloodfeast but you want to avoid using block skill in that case.
Another note, if he's losing too much to bleed count, it may be worth having Fanghunt Hong Lu on support. His passive is charged by the current La Mancha IDs and allows you to drop the count by 2 without taking damage, potentially stopping him from becoming like Cassetti in that one cutscene in Murder on the WARP Express.
@magikazam8430 He can still generate a lot of Bloodfeast with s1, so if you use s1 to get low and then s3 to heal all the way back you can still play him in a way that works with Outis, and then you can spend excess on s2. I agree with you that it gets awkward because they're both spending Bloodfeast, but in my opinion the healing and defense buffs you get on Ailing Heart make up for it. You still get the choice of which way you want to play it, so either way he has options, which is always appreciated. PS: I forgot to talk about it but the Combat Start healing on Guard is a desperation play and should be avoided when possible to preserve Bloodfeast, it's best to heal with the Aching Heart effect instead
Fun fact, his guard helps a lot. It helps enable his s2 so he can use his own self bleed to jump his stacks to tier 3 really fast as he can immediately consume his 50 plus bleed
At least PM had the dull to give him a one time death null passive. That really helps a lot especially since by then you won't have a stagger threshold to worry about.
For some reason, this makes me glad because while finishing canto 7, during the battle against the trio bloodfiends. My instinct just tell me to attack the Barber first, then move to the Priest, and eventually Dulcinea. Looking at the fact that he's some berserker tank would've been dangerous to my sink bleed team.
It's very possible to kill the Priest first: that's what I did, actually. Still, I can say that Barber first is definitely more efficient after I ran it back-- seeing everyone deal with Barber first made me realize "hmm, perhaps I should *not* rush down the new guy"
Well... He is a part of the third best archetype for mirror dungeons, after poise-bleed and burn. And he has good rolls. And not the worst bleed application. And, he helps with bloodfeast for other vamps by his tons of self-bleed, so in the future, he will help a ton for Dulcinea Rodya and Don Don Quixote. Finally. A potentially incredible Gregor id
He's more like a bloodfiend support with some sustain potential tbh, that self-bleed and his high health+stagger really suggest a bloodfeast generator, though having him being staggered for 1 turn to fully maximize his longevity really leans more into long fights, which I guess is fine now that chain battles are the norm?
i love risk runner characters like this it reminds me of REX from Risk of Rain2 where it just absolutely DESTROYS its own HP and then immediately gets it back on the brink of death
To anyone thinking about solo with this guy , do not pick up any gift that increase bleed application cause it ALSO increase you own self bleed which mean a basic smoke and wire WILL make your S1 a 50 bleed and S2 a 40 bleed ( same issue also apply to Barber but she is far more manageable )
Is it just me, or i just think he love drinking his own *Ketchup* cuz the boss is a infection rusty nail inside them, a wooding doll, a tree, depressed Samurai and *ketchup* but hard at crystal xD
Honestly his kit makes sense to some extent if we think of other tanks with high stagger bars like harpooner, who get staggered turn 1 for having no more stagger bars later on, the only issue being that he DEPLETES HIS HP HIMSELF, making sometimes him drop below 1 all by himself, while also not gaining much from it unlike shi ids or harpooner. That's the biggest issue. Like, you trade off your 80% hp for measily nothing in return other than bloodfeast stacks (except, why not finally give us a good count application on an id so you don't have to hurt urself as much, but rather get it from the enemies bleeding?). He's clunky and kinda not worth it again. Gregor getting another L in terms of an ID is an utter disappointment.
imagine these are in bl issue where they need their version of bl mentor meursalt. maybe this seasons don id might change things or maybe an id before that
depends, if you're just needing a good id in general then characters like Warp Don, N Corp Sinclair, Cinq Sinclair and Meursault, BL Meursault, Pequod Ishmael (not as good but is able to do funny things with her Skill 2), and a few others can be useful. If you're asking for a specific team setup, then don't do tremor, sinking (kinda), rupture or burn since either most of the good ids were last season and can't be sharded, are Walpurgis and you would have to wait to be able to get them, or is Rupture. My recommendation for a certain Status to build is either Poise with Blade Lineage Meursault, BL Yi Sang (Uptie 4 specifically), and Pequod Ishmael for the main carries and focus on getting pride resonance, the other is go for a Warp Charge team with all the W Corp Ids except for maybe Faust or Meursault and replace them with R Corp Heathcliff for his Skill 3.
I used him on MD today and he always seem to be in a brink of death- Fun gimmick though, but I want to see how he fares when the rest of the Bloodfiend IDs are released.
I am not going to lie I kinda just brute forced it The only strat I used is that I focused mainly the Barber first then Priest then Dulcy Also I used Bleed, Don't know if that helps
I just juggled their hp to stagger them before they use their most dangerous attacks. Note that Dulcinea swaps into her aggresive, more dangerous moveset after barber dies, whereas her buffs are easy to clash and gain sp from, so don't just rush barber immediately.
