My nephew was at Woodstock 99. He borrowed our tent which didn't make it home cause it got burned with the riots. I love Wes. He's such an awesome guitarist. He's aged like a fine wine!
so interesting to see him during this time. these days, he really resents music and blames all the bad things to happen to him on it. easier to blame music instead of a person, or himself, because music won't fight back and correct him. he won't go back for his shelved projects (eat the day, the damning well, his and danny lohner's rob zombie album, 2.5 album's worth of limp bizkit's unquestionable truth part 2 from 2005), which would really be a big deal for him and put him on the map in a really compelling way. now he hates music, but still does it. he's totally re-calibrated his musical tastes to flip off this era for him, the era that started with chocolate starfish, included those projects, and ended with cruel melody. that's when he was ON it. instead of renewing his love of music, he just does things to be mad at everything, but looks down on anger. being a hipster is a particularly nasty blend of contradictions. he wasn't like that during the time of this interview, for him it was all about "may the best song win".
