Some of Lin Dan's best points on the way to winning the 2011 BWF World Championships Featured matches: Round 1 - Kestutis Navickas Quarter Final - Sho Sasaki Semi Final - Peter Gade Final - Lee Chong Wei
I think there is something about Lin Dan that separated him from other pro players and especially lee chong wei.His moving style is legendary and very unique from other players, if you all pay attention and compare it with other players then you will observe it.He conducts the rallies and he moves very economically while LCW is a kind of reactive player going with the flow.Lin dans physicallity was also very much in playing shape in his prime and his shoulders and calf muscles were used to be like machines part. The way he plays his overhead backhand corner shots are very energy saving as he doesnot use the hop step unlike other players and his crossover step is so beautiful to watch ,his attacking backcourt footwork looks different from other players. And also his game use to has some particular templates which is the most important thing that made him different from all other players.
Prime Lin Dan was a monster. He’s like a water, he can take shape of any bowl he’s put into. His game reading ability is beyond belief. He’s always one footwork ahead of his opponents.
Lin Dan's footwork is THE best, and old Chinese fans all know that. He completely changed his playstyle after 2010. The best footwork gives him the best efficiency. He doesn't need to run fast like LCW, or smash hard as some players. Yet he can still play the best defense and offense.
@@fta132 Which year from 2004 to 2019 do you think that Lin dan was at his peak form because I find that he was extremely sharp in every rally in the year 2009 and so as in the past years but since 2010 he start playing little slow,do you think that the LD from 2010 is better than the previous LD.
@@hrishirajgogoi1018 I would say this. The first stage is befroe 2010 during which young Lin Dan had the physical advantage above nearly everyone and the peak was the 08 Beijing. Man he just dominated LCW with phenomenal speed and powerful smash. The second stage is 2010-2014 during which Lin Dan continued to grind his skill under the coach of Tang Xianhu. He may not be fast as LCW or powerful as young players, but he had the best skill, rhythm and footwork combined with his tie 1 physical ability. I would say 2011-2013 was the peak of his career. The 3rd stage is 2015- 2020. After 2014 Chen Long reached his peak and took over from Lin Dan, who started to fall slowly. Cause Lin Dan had all the titles for 2 round and was lack of motivation. And that's when he started to have affairs with models which was exposed after 2016 Rio, known to all in China. Respect to him that he still mantained a high level of competition, but obviously he no longer had the motivation for championships anymore.

Lin dan is like a god of badminton. No one have all the qualities except lindan like smooth footwork, crazy control over rally, ferocious smashes and deceptive shorts. He reads the game well than any other player.
Prime Lin Dan was a monster. He’s like a water, he can take shape of any bowl he’s put into. His game reading ability is beyond belief. He’s always one footwork ahead of his opponents.
The important thing is his mental fortitude which is unfortunately lacked in LCW otherwise equal repreiotary. LD had a great residence to pressure and out standing confidence.
@@elfispresley4176 emang bro. Mmg antara status goat yg jelas dlm sukannya sebaris bolt. Definisi bakat dan mental baja. lin dan boleh dikatakan pemain yg hampir kepada perfect
This is 100% form of Super Lin Dan at his Prime. If he facing an amateurs, you will see plenty of deception stroke..if he facing a Pro, every high return will be punish with Explosion Smash.
Robert Lo Not quite. If you followed all of LD's matches in olympics 2008 not just the final with LCW. You can see that even LD in 2008 could play a patience game if he needed too and in fact he made less mistakes back then. His speed and power made it easy for him to finish most of his rallies quickly but he also won a lot of long rallies. Some of his in olympics 2008 was over 50 shots and one really long rally was 91 shots against Chen Jin in semi final. As LD got slower he depended more on strategy but it doesnt mean that he couldnt do it back then.
It was both a dream and a nightmare to have Prime Lin Dan as opponent. The way He toss around in the 1st match despite the strong aggressive tactic shows how much control and read he have over the game.
He lacked mental fortitude that of LD had. Often lost the match during the crucial moments I would say due to this. Otherwise a near equal to LD skill level(Only one) and more consistent than LD.
2011 BWF and 2012 Olympic were the closest points that LCW made to the World Champion. Unfortunately, he met the prime Lin Dan. Luckily for us, we witnessed the war between Gods....

I'm a big fan of Momota, LCW, Ginting, Taufik and other players in general, but I just don't know, this version of Lin Dan makes it seem effortless? Players in the present are all very good, quick and powerful ; they all have good footwork but Lin Dan's movement make it seem like he's just casuall hovering around the court, like no unnecessary movements, he's got the flow lol. Is it because he reads the game better? Or perfect height weight proportions for a singles player? He has a small height/reach advantage compared to momota, LCW, ginting, etc, without being overly tall like Axelsen, and some other tall players.
It boils down to shot quality and tactical awareness.. Lin Dan knows WHEN to use neutralization shots into the mid court to give him extra time for recovery, learning how to slow the pace means opponents need to inject speed if they wish to break his control. Notice Lin Dan strike only when there is an opening or when his opponent give him free lift or upward drive on his forehand. Also He got massive power to use the full count length and add to his recovery. The energy he saves on his legs are released only when he's pushed into the corners. When you control so well the height of your lifts the timing become easier to predict hence your footwork becomes more economical. He's also very skilled to adapt at his opponent rackets movements. His height has also the perfect balance for smash steepness (effectiveness) and shot preparation (time to get under the shuttle).
He used to be incredible at getting LCW's cross-court smash back which is WAY more accurate than Axelsen's yet it seems nowadays that's all a player has to do against LD. Live with the deception and the base game long enough for a cross court opportunity, and somehow it works.
Lin Dan will face every toughest battle only against lcw. Lcw makes the winning moment more valuable and pride for Lin Dan as the same thing for badminton fans also . We got more interest in badminton because of u 4 legends. Taufik , Gade ,Lin and Lee.
@@KeithHiew 4 legends are just a way younex try to push the popularity the sport. There are no such things a 4 legends in a short time 10-15 years. The only legend is lin dan.
Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan both are almost same to me. But I think Lee Chong Wei is more peaceful in nature and sometimes emotional. That's why I think he loses most of the time with Lin Dan.

steffen H those are taufik's peak years while LD was still learning and improving. LD still playing today while taufik retired years ago, see the difference? Xia Xuanze can beat taufik in those early years. Xia is now LD's coach. Taufik's peak years no way better than LD's peak years.
the best there was, the best there is, the best there ever wil be..... bret "the Hitman" heart.... no no no nope ... its Lin Dan in badminton..sorry ..
i think i can Beat Lindan if here's the rule: 1) Both his feet is Tied up 2) his Left Hand is also tied up. 3) Lindan is Blindfold 4) Only Uses his Right Hand 😂 In Short i cant 😂😂😂 Jokes aside. Lindan is Just Superb, what makes Lindan a Marvel. he maintain it for so long its the CONSISTENCY OF DOMINANCE that sets him Apart.
Lin Dan is known by many has the greatest men's single player of all time. Today, I am pretty sure he would destroy him. However, it is not fare to compare the players...they are from different time periods.
No contest. Lin Dan is too good at reading opponents and has a huge speed advantage prime vs prime. Poul-Erik was great for many different reasons, but Lin Dan was invincible.
@@justisebruno Im really sure ur a LD fanboy and so do I. But thats not a reason to discredit Momota. Im not sure which young version of LD ur talking about. But this LD in 2011 played really much at the same pace of Momota now where Momota's skills and techniques arent worse in comparison. The difference as I mentioned was that LD is more dynamic due to his better fitness. And please dont bring CL beating Momota yesterday to say that the post-prime CL can beat Momota. He was obviously not at his best fitness condition. LD in his prime would also lose if facing the same situation. LD 2011 also lost to players like Wong Wing Ki. Does that mean LD sucks? Absolutely not.
