@@slonik0002 Yes. When not on third skill, it's about 300 damage before her barrier breaks when she's not on skill, and around 230 damage when she attacks. If you add Nightingale's passive buff and Lin's module, so the permanent max you can achieve on her, it's about 440 damage when she's not on skill and 330 when she is on skill. However, things go way up if she is on skill 3 with her shield being worth 600 points. At that point she can withstand 700 art attack, 850 with Nightingale, below 800 with mod (gives exactly 600 damage, so anything less will not shatter it) and below 1000 with mod and Nightingale (again, at 1000 it will be exactly 600, enough to shatter). Of course, you can always do other things like try adding shelter to her or lowering the opponents attack, in order for her to be able to withstand higher attacks, including true attacks (since shelter affects all damage, if I remember correctly).
The more I see gameplay of her, the more she feels like a soft reenactment of Mlyenar when on paper, his attacks felt underwhelming but then actual gameplay showed how powerful they are respectively, so I'm glad to see how good Lin Yuhsia is !
@@XynRemained I completely disagree with her being easier to use Her shield needs map knowledge She cant heal herself Her utility LITTERALLY needs proper planning to work Her dps is much worser than carnelian and cant even get amazingly buffed like her Lin is no where easy to use as carnelian lmfao Thats like saying Ceobe s3 is easier to use than eyja s3 Hardly the case utility doesnt mean ease of use most of the time it means more planning to work it out
@@kyarumomochi5146 wdym Lin needs proper planning... if anything it's carne who needs planning. Carne heals using her skill, while Lin has shield that regenerate. Which means if you're planning to have either of them to tank, carne is lot less flexible cuz she needs to use her skill to regenerate. Lin standard shield is 200 dmg, which can be up to 500 with her s3, only few attacks can bypass it. Not to mention Carne has a lot longer cycle for max dmg and debuff while Lin does not. Lin does have a low dmg but her kit makes her a lot more straight forward. Rather Eyja vs Ceobe, it's more Exu vs Archetto. Archetto has lower dps than exu, in return of more control and straightforward buffing.
@@XynRemained Litterally no Lin needs to kill enemies to even compete with stackless carnelian Carnelian litterally has straight forward dmg Straight forward heal And thats litterally it her multicative skill also makes her broken to be buffed with aak and other aspd/atk increasers while same is no where the case for Lin Ranged units hardly care about damage so lins shield being stronger litterally doesnt matter when her dps falls down Nothing about her kit is straight forward unless you are confusing what carnelian does
God what a hilarious defensive mechanic. I really can't wait to use her. I only started this september and the moment I saw her I was flabbergasted that she wasn't already an Operator xD. Btw would an aak s3 hurt her at all?
When she doesn’t have a skill active and gets her class trait, an attack needs to be either >1046 physical dmg or >308 arts dmg to break her shield. The shield breaks when an attack does 200 dmg in a single hit after def/res.
@@lawrencelafuente3450 The target doesn't need to be damaged, just hit. You can hit mudrock s3 with aak while she's invulnerable and it still works iirc
@@milkman7834 or another Example Flametail and Hellagur, both have Reasonable chances of just outright dodging aaks attack when their skills are active, but buffs ofc still apply
I did 45 pulls and got both of them, the last 10 pull was a double. Honestly was not planning on pulling but had some spare pulls so why not and the results were pretty good, got the pink rat waifu. And still should have enough for yato alter.
Finally, another Phalanx caster! I’ve been waiting too long, finally we get another 6* along with Beeswax! Anyways she seems like a defensive sidegrade of both Carnelian (uh oh) and Beeswax (that’s good). Her shield breaks with 1k physical damage or 308 arts damage is required to hurt her. While this means it won’t actually help her against any threats she would already struggle with outside of S3, it does mean she won’t die to scratch damage, much like Beeswax. However, she will suffer worse against arts, def reduction, and slow but heavy hitters than Beeswax’s regen would. S1 is just worse Suzu S2, but at least it’s faster, true aoe and different range, and you can turn it off for whatever reason. Carnelian S2 does way more damage and binds, but takes a lot more, although even uncharged it’s still good. S2 offers the shields to allies - this seems worse than I had initially thought. The DPS is pretty low so let’s focus on the utility - giving a shield that breaks if they take 200 damage, and otherwise negates the damage. This… seems a bit weak, when you consider the vast amount of melee enemies with a decent enough hit. Many defenders are easily taking over 200 damage like a champ and not caring with 3k hp, and weaker units will easily break the shield. It will likely see some niche usage, especially for stuff like poison haze or optimizing out healers in some clears, but the aspect of the shield isn’t as strong on a melee unit imo. S3 is the fancy shield blow up dance skill. It makes her shield 3x stronger to help cover up for the dropped stats of the archetype, and has a base dps of 1.3k, going up to 2.6k if she can always kill something each attack. For comparison, Carne S3 has a 2.2k dps, with a weaker beginning and a stronger end. We can see without the shield pops Lin doesn’t do as much, and even with a 60% break rate, she still won’t surpass Carne S3. Carne S3 also scales better with stuff like ASPD (once you give her more than 10), but Lin can easily take all of Aak’s shots without any damage. They also gave her worse cycle time than Carne for whatever ungodly reason, but at least she can stop the skill early, I guess? The 2nd talent helps, but it depends on the map. Overall, it seems like you’d require some map knowledge with Lin. Too little ranged enemies and it makes sense to take Carne since she deals more damage, if the ranged enemies are too tough Lin’s shields will break too fast, but if there’s enough trash ranged mobs, especially in dangerous spots to use the other’s skills? She’d do pretty well! Or well, a bit above Carne tier of pretty well. She is an aoe caster after all, and we all know how HG treats those…
I feel she's a lot like Penance in the sense that they are both immune to trash mobs, have no healing at all yet there's a pretty good damage mitigation but they still struggle with the true heavy hitters and that's why they don't knock over their competition
Wait. S2 should be giving the exact same properties as her own glass shield, so 200 "health" AFTER def and res calculations. Sure, you're not usually going to get some monstrous 800 defense stack on other operators, but it can make a ton of melee units basically immune to scratch damage/high DPS low DPH damage that would otherwise destroy them. Arknights does lean fairly hard into DPS-based enemies a lot, even though most people only remember the ones that can instagib...
@@FelisImpurrator I will admit that’s the part of my analysis I’m the least confident about, since events and elites tend to vary so much. But let’s take a look at the current event, shall we? We have the alcohol durins, who are no threat. Brawler durins, also no threat. The volleyball carts *might* be a threat, as they start with 350 attack and scale to 700 after 10 attacks - you could help units with ~400 def take no damage, which a good handful of units are. But they also take a long time to ramp up, die fairly quickly, and can be CC’d to reset their stacks anyways. The casters who have long range but weak attack only deal 150 damage, so you could actually tank all of them, and I can see some use in that, sure. Arriving at the elites, we have the robot surfer, who deals 400 arts, breaking the shield for anyone who doesn’t have 50 RES. We have the robot car, which deals 1100 physical - unless you have 900 def, that’s not doing much, so only Hoshiguma S2 who has 1k defense, and dodge, will tank it easily, or any unit which buffs their def to 900+, which probably are defenders who will only take scratch damage at that point. The cars with passengers have 800 attack, but most block 3 units have enough def anyways, except AOE guards. Then we have the drone boss, dealing 500 arts in the regular stage (60 res), and 700 arts in EX (72 RES). So… fat chance. As you can see, in this event there’s like, 1 enemy I’d say the shield could be okay on? Maybe 2-3, depending on the account?
@@slonik0002 I'm more curious about certain other enemies. Remember the maphack enemies from Stultifera Navis? How much damage do they do? Also consider Raptor Drones, Brawler types, and the like, which are common in IS. Would have been nice if she had a threshold that could hit 500 Arts with minimal effort. Something like 350, I think, would enable her to personally tank the dancers in Crimson Solitaire with zero damage taken. Hopefully her module system will actually provide a substantial increase to the threshold.
Thanks for the showcase, featuring other Phalanx Casters as well. Carnelian is my favorite unit, and this helps demonstrate the differences between them. Lin literally ignoring smaller/weaker attacks is pretty funny to watch. I'm curious about Lin's S2, even if in terms of fortifying a friendly blocker or melee unit it won't be as effective. Will it work when farming for Pink Vouchers? We see that croc spear throwers can't get through, is that true for, like, enemy brawlers in Obsidian Festival or IS2? HG forbid the Zombie Javelins from Chapter 6 have difficulty killing her or shielded allies? Or was it a fluke? Guess people will have to test that for themselves Lin S3 doesn't seem terrible but it does look a tad underwhelming for 5-10. Defense Crushers aren't the scariest enemies anymore for a long while now; how will Lin fare against a UFO? Carnelian did decently in Abandoned Plot, I wonder how Lin will fare on that same funny tile In terms of drawing enemy aggro and healing off damage, Beeswax is indeed the champion, but I've had a lot of fun with all three of Carnelian's skills. Lin S1 does look too simple on paper, but S2 and S3 will hopefully help her feel distinct from the other phalanx casters. It was nice seeing Mint a few times too, I do find her S1 to be pretty practical
Lin seems to be specialized in clearing out weak enemies rather than individual strong ones. That seems to be the idea behind her skill design having relatively low DPS.
@@FelisImpurrator Wich hurts her as her class is generally huge dps spike based Killing trash mobs is litterally not an issue after reed alter and other broken units so her job being the same doesnt help
@@kyarumomochi5146 bro you really should quit going around and aggressively campaigning against Lin like she's your enemy or something. Let people have fun without you calling her "worser" all over the comment section please, she has her own utility and purpose that you obviously don't value and that's not something everyone else needs to know about.
@@sneakretster The comment is about her meta impact so obviously ill talk about her in meta impact Why do people like you act all snowflakey whenever someone talks about a 2d character lmao
How does she do on the Dossoles map with 1 block on the left, seemingly made for Phalanx Casters? A borrowed E2-90 M3 Carnelian couldn't make it, even with healers. That's when I decided not to pursue Carnelian any further.
should be, since the threshold for Crystal shield break is 1000 DMG and Aak deals 500 DMG per bullet. Then again, Lin's SP recovery talent is RNG so there's that
Tbf, a lot of current tags give ATK up... Not to mention taking res/def down also impacts her. That and casters will still easily break her shield with no ATK debuff.
nah, thats a reason phalanx caster never show in cc high risk,,simply because they cant, their skill just good on general content,or lower cc risk like r18
wow. an enemy that doesnt 2 hit ko your average caster/sniper cant touch her at all. i mean, the enraged dude at 2:55 didnt do enough dmg to break the shield. there is soo many maps where she is straight out invincible with S3. there probably isnt any other operator that gains more from going from lvl 60 to 90 than her.
What really boils my blood as a Carnelian enjoyer is that Lin does not have ramping damage problems as Carnelian. She gets her damage buff from the beginning, when Carnelian needs to wait a few years to ramp damage… Not fair
Her damage is a lot lower than Carnelian's on average, owing to her defensive nature. Plus this also means that Carnelian scales better with ASPD due to the stacks (as long as it's past 9 aspd)
Carnelian S2 is still really good at killing things, especially when the binds trap enemies in her "kill zone" compared to S3 that can let dogs run away, I find. But yeah Carnelian plays differently from units that are expected to be DPS. I'm sure people who prefer DPS units will find Eyja far more enjoyable, but to me Carnelian laughing off a lot of shots while menacingly waiting for the perfect moment to strike is both in character lorewise and fun to "spring the trap" .... Probably why I like Robin too lol
@@kyarumomochi5146 i understand this. I am an avid Carnelian user myself (e2 80 s3m3), the thing i am disliking is that any enemy that enters Carnelian range mid-skill or late skill is not going to be evaporated like the one who was there for the whole duration. I know how much damage Carnelian deals for the whole duration which is few thousands apart from Eyjas total s3 damage. Lins damage dealing has more utility to it due to skill cancelling mechanic she has. Lin has so much more utility compared to Carnelian, when Carnelian has that explosive BUT ramping damage which Lin can't overcome
@@slonik0002I know, but Carnelian lacks UTILITY which Lin is offered to. I mean she can turn off skill to optimize charging time which could have been nice to see on Carnelian
Its basically a shield that wont break unless the damage is over certain treshold Idk about number but think it like this The shield has treshold of 500 hp So any damage that do less than that will be ignored as in it wont damage her or the shield at all But it will pierce shield if the damage is like 501
@@awesomesauce980 from what others explain, that seem to be the case Thats why you can see lot of attack bombard lin but none of them can break it, also s3 make the treshold goes 2.5x from default treshold
Do people just shut their brains off when a new female character gets released? Her dps and damage is alot lower than carnelian she cant heal herself and she is pretty much only useful against trash mobs while carnelian is good against every single sort of enemy and carnelian scales alot better with buffs Lin could be the most underwhelming sidekick limited character they had released after mizuki lmfao
@@kyarumomochi5146 brain off is just my normal state of being. Anyways, I don't get why Carnelian's heal happens when the skill activates. It should happen at the end, because she really only takes damage during her skill.
@@zephyrprime8 Well its probably because she would have taken damage prior the skill activation so that she doesnt die because of lack of hp while skill usage
