she is special in the film and her amazing portrayal made me really care about her whilst i was watching the film last night and her performance left me feeling sad for the tragic and heartbreaking destiny of her character and the relationship she had with the main male lead role and it is amazing how she can evoke such emotion and feeling with a simple look or a few words.
Just watched this film. Absolutely brilliant! Well acted, the story is excellent, and American film makers could take a clue from this; you don't need big budget effects and expensive actors to produce a very, very good film. If you like horror and like vampire films (real ones, not ones with "glowing" glittery pretty boys), then you will enjoy this.

Bless her, she's incredibly shy. I've just seen the film and was very impressed, I particularly liked the understated way that she performed her role. Apparently the director had her voice dubbed by Elif Ceylan because Lina sounded too feminine and her character is androgynous.

Watched the movie today in class, and I must say that I was blown away. Not the typical "vampire" movie, that's for sure. Like an onion, The movie contains many layers that can be peeled away for analysis. I might check out the more recent remake of the movie at some point, however, I can't say that I am in a rush to since this one did not leave me wanting for anything at the end. Great movie, performance. and 2 thumbs up!
After seeing this film, I convinced myself that I was part Swedish. Even though both my parents denied it. But I know someone, somewhere who is distantly related to me is Swedish. I KNOW IT

I'm an American and I'm ashamed that America remade this film. The Swedish original is perfect. But it also annoys me when people say that America just makes shitty films. America has made tons of amazing films to go with the tons of shitty films. Lat den ratte komma in is a true masterpiece!
Ghehe I knew Lina Leandersson's voice was dubbed over in the movie but hearing her actual voice still shocked me. Anywho - great movie though! Loved it.
At this time the movie "Let the right one in" is ranked at 233 position in the IMDB ranking among all the movies of the history of human beings ("Rainman" is at 232 and "La Dolce Vita" is at 236): if I was an actor I should be very proud and excited for this.
i've watched this film maybe 4 times.... It really is a strange movie , but nonetheless it is an absolute classic. The main actors ( kids ) are brilliant in their roles, and won awards deservedly so. Though it has the undertones of a complex love story, there is no crap aimed at a female audience on how beautiful and romantic things are in the way the Twilight movie was made. Twilight is a chick film without a doubt, it made me sick, bit like the titanic. This movie really grabs your attention
actually I read on the wikipedia that the director dubbed her voice with the voice of another girl for the movie LTROI. I have to say though that the actress is so charming and must also be very very intelligent too(to have discoverd the role while surfing the internet!!!) I would love to meet her someday and tell her what a great wonderful actress she is.
Lina is a very beautiful young girl. She reminds me of my first sweetheart, Martha, when I was a kid back in high school. She looks a lot like her, specially her hair. Man, she makes me wanna be 15 again. Any way, Lina is a great actress, and her movie, Let The Right One In, is the best horror movie ever. I hope they give her more roles in the future. God has given her a great talent. She's my favorite child actress.
@neophyte500 That wasn't her in the shot at all, it was a child-sized doll. Thomas Alfredson had mentioned it in an interview somewhere a while back...and that wasn't a vagina, it was a circumcision scar. The book may hold quite a few surprises for you xD I recommend checking it out.
Lina really reminds me of Keisha Castle Hughes in Whale Rider, they both got a lot of attention for playing a subtle, old-soul type of character and they both seem to have the same kind of personality as the girls they portray.
This director made Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Fantastiic director. This movie was awesome. I read that Let Me In was very good too though. It gets similar reviews as the original.
If you take a closer look, it was a castration scar. Also, they used a dummy for that shot, not the actual actress. Hope that makes it a little better lol.
@TheWhiteStripes3 i feel the addition of the photo of Eli with her previous caretaker when he was 12 was a nice addition but other than that everything about the Swedish one is better.
@Colchonz British remake actually. (Hammer is a British studio) And there is nothing wrong with seeing both films....unless anyone is afraid other people might like the other one more. Not sure why that would be a problem. It's nice to have choices in life.
really underrated movie, i dont like some vampire after twilight, but this is very good. Twilight and let the right one in, are really different movies!
I don't think it was perfect personally, I think the removal of the flashback scene after Eli says "Be me for a little while" is a strange decision when they kept the "scar" scene. It just leaves the audience confused especially as it's such a peek-a-boo scene and you're left wondering what it's all about. The statement that Eli is "not a girl" was interpreted by me as meaning "I'm a vampire". I'm sure anyone who hadn't read the book would think the same...so the editing was odd.
@Louchan2 i think it had a lot of differences, abby being a girl, hakan lived his whole life with abby, the virginia character is different, there is a policeman( i know is not the books policeman), but i see what you are saying
They just remade it to be an American version of the movie I mean I'm a fan of both Lina Leannderson and Chloe Moretz who played the roles for the Euro version and the American version
@0Lottee0 Well I noticed that it's pretty hard to act like a teenager when you're not one. I'm only 21 yet I can't talk like a teenager. But that's not a problem I'm not old enough to forget that kids and teenagers are not dumb and they do understand adults even when they don't use colloquialisms.

@aflockofmusic2 You've got to be kidding. I highly doubt you never even read the book. "Let the right one in" made a lot of changes from the book, both in dialouge and actions. One example is when Eli ate candy and then threw up. This never happened in the book. And and guess what? "Let me in" copied every single one of those changes. On the other hand, "Let me in" took nothing from the book that "Let the right on in" didn't already have. Face it. "Let me in" was a complete scene by scene copy.
I just watched the movie and was blown away. Now that I learned that there is an American remake I will make sure I'lll never watch it. No remake ever exceeded it's original (maybe 1 or 2 exceptions in history). There are a lot of good American movies so that is not the point at all, but I've watched a lot of remakes and was always let down by them. Anyway great movie, with great acting of the 2 protagonists
The girl is just naturally close-mouthed and eccentric. Critics overrated the girl's acting? I thought she nailed Eli's character right on nonetheless! The adaptation is already getting bad reviews lol. Us Americans and our stupid vampire craze...
@AngusSgXD She's very young, like 13. As she says, "Let the right one in" is too grown-up for her. Fairy love stories with vegan vampires suits better for a young girl like her.
