Thank you for creating this video! You saved me a few hundred dollars for sure! Just for fun - my 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid battery lasted 9.5 years before needing to be replaced. I used to park it in the garage until 2.5 years ago and it has
Informative video. Was able to use it as a reference tonight to replace the 12V battery in my 14 MKZ hybrid. I'm off tomorrow to find a shop that can do the battery reset portion. Thank you!
Joel, thanks a lot my wife's 2015 will be needing a replacement soon here in the heat of so.fl. this is one thing I can do without a dealer screwing me ! bless you
Thank you so much for this tutorial. O’reilly’s and Advance Auto won’t touch it since it is a “difficult” install and NTB couldn’t source a battery. I found one and installed it with your help. Wish I could find an aftermarket scanner for the BMS - ridiculous it isn’t available with a dongle and app.
Very informative. I idid not think it had an alternator, but I wasn't certain. I have asked that question of several videos on you tube. Initially, I had thought this was identical to the Fusion hybrid which does have an alternator.
? If I put alligator clamps as I remove terminals and keepclamps on terminals? Would I still need to reprogram BMS, this is not a job for average Joe and I would bring to shop! This was very educational and very in depth! Thank you!
@@joeldufkis I cant find a garage in my area to run the tool for less than 120. Joel, please, is there some workaround I can utilize? Somewhere I can rent or purchase the tool?
Thanks a lot Joel. Good stuff. I was very confused when I disasembled the accesoires under the hood. I just always thought I had two batteries. What is a fair price for a shop to charge me for that would you say?
@@joeldufkis Heard. They all want to charge the full hour. Is it possible they have a more antiquated diagnostic that actually justifies the charge? Regardless, I plan to just buy the tool featured in your video. Thank you for taking the time to respond. That was kind of you and will not soon be forgotten.
My car can’t read the smog check. Both computers didn’t link. So I changed the battery, but I didn’t reset the BMS. And the problem was persistent. So in a dealer ford charged me in 900 to change the module
Thanks for your video Joel. My MKZ has gone 8 years on the original battery - 81K miles. The dealer here wants $525 and 2 weeks to change my battery. Earlier today I bought the NAPA 7567R battery, but now unable to resolve the BMS issue. There is an OTC Battery Reset Tool on the NAPA website, Part #: BK 7002643. I am hoping this will work since it's the same brand as the one you used. What are your thoughts on purchasing one of these at $190.99?
@@joeldufkis That's the problem, I have called NTB plus 6 local shops. Looks like the Dealerships have the monopoly on these. The battery was $165, so still cheaper than the dealership. I will keep searching.
@@joeldufkis Thanks for looking. AAMCO had the battery reset tool. They didn't have much experience with Lincoln Hybrids, so I shared information from your video with them. Thanks for everything, your video was extremely helpful.
Hi ! Need your help. I have 2015 MKZ hybrid. Car was sitting for couple months , I realised battery is dead . So I bought original battery from the dealership, replaced it as in regular car with no resets or anything . And when turned it on shift sys fault came up. I can’t go into any gear . Transmission stuck in park.
Walk away with the fob and give it a second. I just swapped mine today and i quite a few error codes. I popped the hood, made sure all my convertor accesories were tight. Got back in and had no issue at all.
@@scottkuder3262 I noticed , car did that when I was turning it on with open driver window and door. So I closed everything , turn it on again , and this problem went out forever . I know sound funny , but I actually did nothing to fix it. Now driving my Lincoln more then 4 months a have never seen this issue again.
Definitely not the case for the 2011 MKZ Hybrid I'm looking at. It's under the hood and the tiedown wedge is partially blocked by the intake resonator.
Are you nuts?? I love my MKZ hybrid. I can get 43 mpg & everyone compliments me on my car. You obviously do not live in the USA & have not owned one for 6 years.
I was going to say that he might have a camel but goat might sounds right..... There's a reason they used this particular car as limousine for comfort.
