That is my car. Its like seeing your kid on TV. Thanks Brian for the great job on my MKZ! The battery draw issue in the trunk now explains why my car battery would be dead after two days if sitting and now it's fine. Thanks Brian for the great job on my MKZ!
My viewers sent me your direction on my MKZ series. I'm premiering parts 3 and 4 on Saturday 4-18-20 and we mention you and your channel in part 4 and I placed a card for your channel there are well. Hope all is well, thank you my friend!
We had a 2014 MKZ, great car, and during a battery change is when our trunk opening and closing issues and battery drain issues started. I work at a Ford dealership so it was easy to get one of the mechanics to reflash mine with the latest software. That fixed it and we had no more issues. Brian, great video once again.
This was extremely helpful to figure out what was wrong with our hybrid mkz and that the battery draw was related to the trunk issues. Really well done video. Thank you
@@agger838 The real reason is they want to force people into crossovers and SUV's because those are the higher profit vehicles. But I understand the new leadership at Ford may be reversing that decision due to consumer complaints.
I wish the channel did more Lincoln repairs. I'm a huge fan of the new Continental sedan and I'm dying to see one come into the shop. I have heard good things about them and since i recently got rid of my Cadillac, I'm seriously thinking about buying one. Great video.
They're headaches. At least no touch screen problems like the Cadillac's, but still junk like the MKZ's. Also death traps with only 1 emergency door latch on the drivers side, the rest being electronic.
I like your new intro, I always say the technology is great until it breaks, I still don’t have a problem unlocking the trunk on my older cars with a key, great video Brian 😁👍
My 2014 MKZ got rear ended and after a lengthy insurance/auto body negotiation it was returned to me. The car works perfectly after having both front and rear bumpers replaced. Even the trunk light works again. Further, the car looks brand new in 2022!
I'm planning on buying a Lincoln MKZ or MKS withing the next 6 months. Thanks for this information. So far so good with this issue on my wife's MKC (knock on wood).
Great info! I just replaced the battery in my 2014 Mkz and am now having this very issue! 😫Hoping the dealership can reflash or w.e.. this module, in meantime im not paying for another jump.. lol backed in the garage! Until my scheduled apptmnt. Wish me luck!🤞 i traded a perfect 08 mkz in (with way less computerized options) on this '14 brainchild and definitely uneasy. Thanks for the insight!
Love my 14 MKZ Hybrid. So far this is the only issue i have is the trunk. My system eventually became unresponsive so I took it out. I have a rope like the guy in the video to the emergency release cable. Im hoping It can still be flashed. Thanks for your help!
Like the new intro. A vehicle system rushed into production not fully tested and costly to repair. Manually put the key in the lock, open the latch, no problem. Thankyou for the info.
I wish there was a channel like this for the jeeps . My daughter's 2014 patriot is a crazy disaster. From what I've seen it a major problem for aloooot of folks .
New intro is great but a bit too loud. Could you drop it down a couple of notches? Thanks Brian. Great information on the trunk module. Always a thumbs up!
I had Battery Draw Issues on Fusion Hybrid. Accidently I found that approximately in 5 minutes after shutting down the ignition stereo was trying to eject non-existing CD. And it was trying to do it all night and drained battery to zero. Replacing stereo solved this problem.
I have 2014 Lincoln mkz exactly like this car with exact problem, the back door is not open and not respinding at all and the car battery is died every 1-2 days, I did quick test and found that there is 3 AM is draining from the battery while tge car is turned off and idle. my question please is what do you mean by reflash and how can I do it? thanks in advance and looking for your kind quick answer , thank you again 🙂
I had the same problem with My 2017 Fusion Platinum. I bought it with 15k and I knew the Older Couple Who Bought It Brand New. They Take Absolute Care Of Their Cars. They still have a 98 Taurus SHO 3.4V8 with 268k
Putting all this crap on that breaks helps with job security. Are we all getting so lazy we can't open and close the trunk? I love watching your videos.
So your telling me this wasn't fixed in the 2017+ Lincoln MKZ? What other issues should I be aware of on these cars. The forums are pretty useless and the only information is on the Ford Fusion forum.
I just bought a 2009 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab 4x4 with 115k miles on it (112k when I bought it) for $11,000. it does have the 5.4L 3v Triton V8 engine, and it has been serviced every 5000 miles since the original owner bought it. I’m starting to become really worried about all the horror stories I’m reading about the 5.4. Did I make a mistake ?
How do we reflash the trunk module??? I could have sworn I found a step-by-step on reflashing the trunk module with USB stick back in the summer. Even had a USB stick formatted and got caught up with work and here I am six months later and can't find the source. Am I crazy? I can't find anything now
I cannot get to a dealer as it is Saturday and the Service Departments close at 12pm. If I replace the trunk module is it operable with the old codes thus allowing for a refresh on Monday?
Where are you located .. and how do I get my MKZ to you for care !! Ha. I need to learn more about my new car and the electrical gremlins you mentioned. I just bought it used, and I drove it 1400 miles and now the battery is gone.. I think it is a battery draw.. I noticed certain things, like the massage feature in the driver's seat was working when the display reads off... And I am just getting used to the little noises from the car, but not certain what is normal to be expected. Could you point me in the direction of some new resources.
I have a 2018 MKZ with the Revel 14 speaker system and I'm trying to figure out how to disable the ANC. I've read it can be done with FORscan but I've never used it and don't want to mess something up. I was trying to find a diagram of the pinout connecter to the amp and do it that way but I can't find any info on it. Any help would be great!
How is it going man ? I have a 2014 Lincoln MKZ. It won’t start when I hit the button. It won’t even click as if the battery is weak. Nothing happens just the radio and ac turns on and off as you hit the start stop button. This all started after I went to drive out of a gas station I pressed on the brakes because a car was coming. The engine mount on the passenger slide near the ecm is broken I felt the engine move and the car kind of bogged down but stayed on. So I now make a left turn and drive 100 feet and the car turns off and has not started since. The Dash now says check adaptive head lights Low oil pressure Low coolant Service advance Trac
The oil didn’t move the coolant didn’t move. The car was running fine I’m kind of stuck. Where can I start? With out the obd port not working? What exact fuse number should the obd fuse be covered under? It is not labeled obd in the book.
Are they all supposed to go all the way up and then come all the way down when you push the button again? I've got a 2013 Lincoln MKZ 3.7 and it's always popped up halfway whenever I push the button but it's never went back down on its own. Just wasn't sure if they all are supposed to or just certain ones?
Hi, FordTechMakuloco.. Once this problem is diagnosed, can you please tell me how long it would take to fix? The dealership at my town told me around 4 hrs. and they want $180 an hr for it. Are they ripping me off?, And that is without the parts.
So I have a ‘13 hybrid, purchased it used a month ago. After I got it, I started to have the trunk issue in the video. Took it to the dealer, they flashed the module. Seemed to work. But, although now it’s working I have the random battery draw. Will sometimes not all the time, will be dead when I go to leave in the morning. Hook up cables and it’s already ready to drive, I’m sure it’s a battery for driving compared to the other battery for the ignition? But I took it back to Lincoln and I gave them the link to this video and they said it operated fine. Idk if they checked for a battery draw. But could it just ironically be the battery they and I load tested it. Or maybe the module still because random times the trunk won’t go up or down with the buttons I had to remote start it
I have a 2009 mks when the temperature outside raises or my defrost is on my electrical components such as my radio/navigation and climate controls go out. it also tells me that all of my doors are open. I’ve checked battery fuses altanater im lost as to what i need to check next
You reference issues with the 2017+ MKZ as well but don't go into any detail. I'm kicking around the idea of getting a 2017+ 3.0 AWD, but what "gotchas" exist for the 2017+ cars? And does the 3.0 ecoboost (2.7L EB variant) have an external or internal water pump?
Question, I found a connector under the back seat (passenger side) after pulling up the trunk floor - that isn’t connected to any thing. I don’t have a 12v outlet in the trunk. I wondering if you could tell me what it’s for. Is it for the 12v outlet?
My mother had a 13 mkz 3.7 perfect til 120k miles, had the ubiquitous water pump failure luckily it was the outer seal failed and it leaked through the seep hole. She kept til 140k when it got totaled by hail, she regrets not buying a lincoln again.
I have the 13 3.7 AWD and my water pump replaced with only 87k miles on it. Love the car and don't drive much working from home. Wondering if it would be worth it to keep past 100k. It's paid off and love it, just hate to have another major issue pop up
You should do a "Live Q & A" show. Seriously, you could make some money (questions with $ donated go to the front of the line) and provide some very much needed info for your subscribers. For example, why is Ford no longer making cars??!! (...except the Mustang). Makes no damn sense. Or, here's a better one: Why does the 2.5 engine in my 2011 Fusion almost sound like a diesel engine???
im trying to replace this part however i am having trouble matching the pn... the numbers are all the same however one is AS and the other AZ? is there a difference? somebody please help!!!!!
You were talking about the setup and weren't saying anything about the price of the module. I was waiting for you to say about $800 give or take for it. But like you said $150 isn't bad. But like all the other crap these car makers keep adding to raise the cost of repairs so you will at some point say Fkcu it and buy a new car / truck. All this electronics crap should be for the engine and transmission ONLY. Bring back the key for the trunk, cable for the emergency brake , just relays for brake and headlights. No need to run these things through a module or computer. Also hay you kids get off my lawn.
I'm having trouble with my ford focus when I look out the window today my wipers and lights were on I guessing it's the ecu I don't know does anyone know where the ecu is.or could it be something else any help thanks
Justin Solt I have an '06 Freestyle with 209k miles on it. The only issue I've ever had with it was a leaking ac compressor. Not sure if this is typical or if I'm just lucky. Cvt makes me nervous but no issues so far. This is my first cvt and I really prefer it to an automatic trans.
@@thomasrossi31 did that. It was so buggy that if I pull one relay another one would energize. Then the key fobs stopped working and the "lights on" chime would stay on with door open even with the key out/ lights off. I unplugged the relays under the dash and plugged them back in and everything went back to normal but still has a draw. This issue is deeper than the basics.
Sssoooo to follow up..... the fuse box in the cab has water intrusion so it corroded and deteriorated the internal electrical plates. Basically the individual plates corroded and were shorting out inside. Refurbed one will be here Monday.
If the MKZ stays in production, I will probably get a hybrid to replace my wife's 12 year old Fusion. Lincoln has a longer and better warranty than Ford.
