Ok, I had to look up what Crendor was looking at when he described the cowboy and polar bear packaging. Those were limited edition food - triangle chocolate pie and pepper garlic chicken that had a cowboy themed ad for it, hence the cowboy packaging. As for the Mario going down the pole photos, it turns out those photos and the ones of the man picking up trash are from completely different places and uploaded from one guy. I think he even has selfies of himself uploaded too. The Mario is from Nintendo Kyoto store. All the photos of a restaurant and food are legitimately from the area as it's a hidden residential coffee shop.

There was a hipster trend in postcards a while ago. Because they're typically sent to announce weddings or vacations, the impression you get as a recipient is that the sender wants attention. FWIW I think it's different when people specifically want them. A lot of patreon crowds want them. At a job, one of the managers sent the home office a postcard announcing their wedding anniversary. Every single manager at our home office was profoundly baffled by this. "Congrats, I guess?" Then they felt awkward about throwing it away so they put it in the only place where they don't have to personally deal with it, the hourly breakroom, front and center on the fridge.
