Living in Norman for many years, I've run across very few people who were genuinely mad by Lincoln's departure. Like myself, many fans were simply disappointed in his character that was shown by his hasty departure.. - Lincoln was definitely in talks with USC before he left, while he vehemently denied doing so. His fly-by-night departure just solidified and confirmed our suspicions that he was negotiating a fresh contract behind the University's back - Norman is a great place for College Football and most folks are glad he's gone, seeing that he wanted to leave. I thought OU's AD handled everything perfectly. We're highly excited about Brent Venables & Company..

My first master’s degree is from OU and I walked the stage in Norman, yet I am not angry that Riley left for USC. He did what he thought was best for him, and any of us would have done the same thing. Do I love Oklahoma and cheer for OU? Of course. But a career decision is what people make, to include taking a job you think is better somewhere else.

Lied about getting the offer for the job just a day after the oklahoma st game, recruited for USC while at OU, mysteriously takes off during baylor game prep for "personal reasons", horrendus playcalling all year that was never repeated before or after that makes you think it was on purpose, saying he left because he couldnt recruit at OU (new staff's classes has been better than his every year), and how about when he wanted to take off without talking to his players and demarco murray made him address the team. I don't think OU fans have a problem that he left. I think they have a problem by how he left. I remember that he got offer from USC and he took like couples of hours to accept but he first told the media he didn't receive an offer (or he denied the offer something along that line) then just suddenly announce that he will go to USC. I mean Brian Kelly had the similar situation but he handle it better.

Hey Stinkin’ Lincoln saw the handwriting on the wall. He started to slip the day he took over as head coach. Each year he got a little worse. He knew he wasn’t going to win in the SEC and he knew Sooner fans would not put up with it so he bolted to a softer conference with cupcake opponents and coached a team that had nowhere to go but up.
