Cool video. I was there when Carson's, Bergner's, Herberger's (back to Bergner's) were the main anchor tenants. I'll never forget the grand opening of Herberger's in the mid 90s. The entire parking lot was packed and it was absolutely insane. Now, LSM is a shell of its former self but it was really nostalgic to see the Art Coop still around. That's a whole history in itself.

That outdoor fountain is a good way for a local pond and waterfall business to advertise. The mall wins, the business wins. Ashtabula mall also did that in the food court with a local hardscape company.

Yes I know as I've visited and documented that mall several times. I love the fountain at ashtabula although I found the lighting they did for it to be putrid 🤣

I have lived in Champaign-Ubana from 1994. The mall was better with Bergners. Had a kitchen, gift store, toy store that moved. Had a nice restaurant. Had a Halmark and a Walden Books. There have been more renovation plans with or without the hotel since I moved to town in 1994.
