This is where the "fixing" takes place. Once again, don't do this if you value the aesthetics of your automobile. This is only for those who value cheapness over professional / proper repairs.
This video might make your eyes bleed!

I love living in FL so my towncar stays nice and clean. I just bought a set of 17 inch 9 spoke OEM chrome wheels for it off eBay. I’m almost at 150k miles. No issues. I may redo the air suspension soon before it goes out

Clean bags, spray with 303 then slather a handful of Vaseline on them 1 or 2 times a year. I'm on a decade with my 1st set. Most ppl don't protect them AT ALL. Just install and that's it. Gotta protect them. Like never using and lotion for urr skin. It will get dry. We do this on semi trucks air bags. They hold up 100k pounds plus hauling daily. Clean, 303, Vaseline. Cheap easy and last a lifetime.

@@GunGlutton I'm here to help all fight rust, and for easy and cheaply as possible. I hate it. It's a shame we gotta pay for the state to rust out our autos. Back in the past all ppl drove RWD and when it was that bad they stayed at home. I don't live in far north so can't say but in Pa we don't get enough snow to use all this salt. But ppl won't slow down or pay attention. Happy panthering

@@jasonchristopher2977 PA is the worst for plowing these days. They refuse to send out plow trucks during snow storms because the roads are unsafe

@@GunGlutton 2 b honest my poor kids don't believe me that we used to get snow. They've played outside 4 times in 5 years cause we either had no snow, or it melted b4 we got the chance. I made tunnels through snow drifts on side of our log house. Now barely enuff for snowballs. Lmao. I H8 the cold. I'd take nice anyday. I trained in Cali. I always though beaches and babe's. Not in Bridgeport warfare training center. It was cold and snowy. Especially the cold water crossing survival. I did NOT want to get in that water but it's all in urr head. No matter what, u can be dry and warm but as soon as u hop in that cold it bites deep to the bone. Here they just use salt brine. Barely plow just use salt. Sucks.

I'm happy to how it looks. No brown ugly rust spot to look at. they do have also a OEM spray paint can that matches your color. Autozone has it. If not touch up works wonders also. Can't wait for part 2 This is your Lincoln town car and I love it.

Not washing your vehicle a lot is one reason it rusts. Especially during the winter always keep the road grime off. I am surprised that stuff that the Ford “boss” sprayed underneath did not help.
@VitaliyKofman
@VitaliyKofman Год назад
It's funny you say that since so many others say it's the constant car washes that make em rust :)
@EnthusiastCarHangar
@EnthusiastCarHangar Год назад
@@VitaliyKofman That is untrue. The rust forms much stronger under road grime, mud and salt if they still use it during the winter. The undercarriage and wheel wells should always be kept clean to prevent it.

It's cause these wax sprays have no petroleum products. Ask any car guy is he's seen rust when metal is covered in oils, fluids or grease? No. My Pap worked for ford in Ohio. His coworker in 60s drove a late 40s sedan. Asked him how do u keep it from rusting out? Fella said easy, Mix 1 quart of any used new oil, same of any used or new trans fluid, 1 tube or tub of grease, 1 wax ring toilet gasket. Put all in old pot, heat and mix. Spray, brush etc on what u don't want rusting. Used oils and fluids this will cost $6. Knock off heavy rust, use Ospho or the like on light surface rust, then some good zinc based coating, or farm implement paint, rustoleum, then mix and use what I said and urr rust will be gone for good. Also spray some 303 on air bags, then slather with Vaseline. For doors tape up drains and fill with mineral, baby oil or melted Vaseline. Let sit a week then drain and save for next year. I fight rust yearly for decades. If u don't stop it the car will rust away in a few years. Undercoating is the worst. Bedliner is better under fenders, frame. Eastwood sells internal frame with a 360 nozzle. It will get inside and out of frame and not rust. Good stuff.

The reason it bubbles it's not spray paint it's a rubberized paint. That's why it bubbles?I had my 2010 Towncar detailed the other day God it looks like brand new. They did such a good job for $125 The engine, the rims, it looks brand new. I don't live in the rust belt thank God my car still looks new and has no rust.😃

I understand why you did this but I would have simply used a can of primer and then a spray touchup paint instead of the Flex Seal. Once you have things sanded down and the rust neutralized it would have been just as easy to primer / paint properly. I bet a can of paint is cheaper than Flex Seal.

Yes flex seal is good but not for metal. It's more of a sealing up vinyl tops, etc for cars. I have tried it and it lasts about a year or so and goes to poop.

Oh man here i am too dealing with rust on a town car it really sucks honestly.Another spot i just discovered was holes is in the trunk area,remove the carpet area on the sides and peek underneath man oh man 😫 mine is rusted through that you can actually see the pavement. I found a welder that will remove the old metal and replace it with new sheets.

Your town car still looks better than a lot I see around my city. Most people trash panther cars where I live. Crown Vics nasty looking, town cars maybe a little better. I have a video I'm preparing about using bondo to fill in a rust spot. I am no body technician though.

Use Bondo with fiberglass. It's way better and longer lasting. Best is welding, then fiberglass cloth and resin, then tiger hair. The fiberglass has way better strength than not. I would say leading but most ppl have no idea how to do it. It's not hard but is not as easy as body filler. Always better to replace metal with metal. But we can only do what we can. When body shop charges a grand to fix a rusty fender, anything is better than that if u can't do it. And alot of us can't right now.

Trust me, I know famous last words, but for guys who do this in driveway use Car Rep primer. It has no pot life. It will last forever. Other epoxy will only last 24 hrs. Welding is best. Butt weld THE holes AFTER its derusted. Rust is always bigger than what it appears. If it's .25 inch bubble it's .75 when it's all said and done. I use Ospho or loctite. If u can't weld it use fiberglass cloth or putty. Bondo will work and then fail in years. That spot holds water, mud etc. Idk if I told u this but if so I will again. Most wax, rust coatings, fluid film has NO petroleum products. They do work but don't last. Mix 1 quart of used or new oil any kind, 1 quart of used or new tranny fluid, 1 grease gun cartridge or wheel bearing tub of grease and 1 wax ring gasket for a toilet. Put all in old pot, heat and mix. U can spray, brush etc. It WILL NOT RUST AGAIN. Anything that ppl have seen with a leak of oils, fluids, grease won't rust. The stuff sold at $10 a can or $100 a gallon is good but not long term. If u use old oils, fluids it will cost u $6 for a wax ring at HD and a tube of grease at HF. B4 spraying any primer or paint u have to clean it 100%. Even oils from fingers will cause issues. Heat up paint cans in hot water. Let sit 10 min and use and shake often. I live in apt complex and this is my life. I do most of my work outside in parking lot. It's alot harder cause can't make a mess, can't over spray, etc. Carep costs same as any 2k paint but will outlast. 2k u pop the cannister inside to mix the primer, paint and activator. Carrep only mixes when sprayed out nozzle. Prime bare metal, do bodywork, always clean clean clean. Being clean and prep is 95% Of job. Urr doing a good job. Also a cheap dremmil from wallyworld is 30$ and will help this rust spot work immensely. Take urr time, use any tricks u can. It's possible to do gr8 work this way if u put most time in prep. Don't tape off hard lines. Fold over paper so it's a soft paint edge. Then use a blending spray to blend paint. 1 is remove and kill all rust. 2 prep as good as possible. 3 use good products and follow directions. Some stuff can mix some cant. U got this bud. Always put down a tarp, drip cloth etc. I used and brushed all under my TC last year and it's still there, don't drip and still is working well and cost me $6 and some time. Good stuff man.
