Roy and Mike took us on the Halloween cycle ride to Fullbeck. Roy stopped us at various locations and relayed the story of Florry and Dick. Great ride and story telling.
Great video. Flo’s sister Laura was my great grandmother and it’s been really interesting finding out more about this. The wonders of the internet! Thanks
A fascinating piece of local history and storytelling. I also rode with a group and Roy today visiting the places he mentioned in the tale. Loved it. 😊
A very appropriate tale for Halloween. When you mentioned the woman's name, it put me in mind of an old folk song 'Flora' by Peter Paul & Mary. A young man is in love with Flora. He discovers she is keeping company with another. He sees them standing under a tree and the man kisses Flora. The young man flies into a rage and kills him for which he is hanged. In this case, Flora survives. Unfortunately, the Flora in your story wasn't so lucky even though she apparently had done nothing wrong. 😢 Have a good Halloween. 👻🎃
Hi Roy,what a fascinating but sad tale, well told by yourself,it’s another slant on cycling adventures & what local history we have close by,appropriate for Halloween & very interesting,it’s what we have to do in these darker days to keep our motivation up to get out on the bike, many thanks & atb,Colin P.
a real shame (literally) that men so often take out their frustrations or failures on women. nevertheless, thanks for the bedtime story Uncle Roy.... if I have nightmares it'll be all your fault!
@@RideWithRoy it does (sometimes work the other way). another real shame is that men keep getting sent to war (and that too isn't solely the men, these days, of course).
