I'm a Lincoln fan but the Grimsby fans have a point. Where were all these fans 3/4 years ago when we were shit, languishing in the conference playing the likes of playing the likes of Hyde and Tamworth and only just surviving. Don't get me wrong, i think it's great that we've got loads of fans there and the atmosphere is brilliant. But if we slip down a league or have a shit season in league two fighting relegation these fans will soon call it a day and it'll be the true fans who have been there through thick and thin who will show up week in week out.

Thank you for posting this really enjoyed watching this. Here are a group of supporters walking to the club peacefully. So why would the cops try to stop them? A sure good way to incite an incident and its not the fans who started it. I really need to go to a Derby some day to be among the masses and feel the electrifying energy. Vids give you a sense but to be there in person, oh man. Gives me chills thinking about it.

These derbys are so interesting in helping imagine the historical rivalries they recreate... Grimsby would have been contended for often in the sixth to tenth centuries between the ancient petty kingdom/duchies of Yorkshire (part of the anglo-saxon kingdom of northumbria/[or viking]), and anglo-saxon Mercia, with county Lincoln (Lincolns red is the county colour i think) being the coastward extension of the latter, and thus of vital trade importance to the distant centre of england (note the mercantile red brick streets)... The regular landing of viking raiders along the coast can't have improved the locals' tempers either, lol... and it's interesting that narrow black and white stripes are typical of viking designs, eg for banners, perhaps explaining the 'strips' of eg grimsby or newcastle Utd. Note also the fans' gloating over the (rich) city status of lincoln wrt to the 'town' status of Gr. whose county capital was presumably the forerunner of nearby Hull, thus restricting it to fishing chores..... thanks for post ! peace
