There are great voices out there, best not talk about "what is THE best", that will always be just personal taste. For example, I really like the version of this song sung by Sara Bereilles but I would not dream of saying she is "better" than this singer. I just know I LIKE it more, best leave it at this, IMO
I saw her in Houston so many years ago and she opened with “don’t rain on my parade”. Then she spoke to the audience and said something to the effect of “I bet you all thought you were at a Barbra Streisand concert just now. OK, now that we’ve got that out-of-the-way let’s move on.” She was hysterical and adorable all at once. I love it when she holds on to the microphone with two hands, tilts her head to the right and her one dimple shows. That’s when she’s really belting it out. And then of course there’s a little eyebrow thing that she does on a couple of songs that just finishes it all off. She is simply the best.
Absolutely the best. I’ve seen her 5 times and she never disappoints. After the fourth time I thought I couldn’t be impressed but I found myself shaking in disbelief hearing her endless perfectly clear belts expecting for her to take a breath and she continues for a whole 7-8 seconds to complete another sentence in the lyric. Simply outstanding. She takes you to heights that feel overwhelming.
Her voice never fails to thrill me: Her range and her emotion are amazing......I'm almost always in tears after listening to her. I don't think I could live without music.
One of the best artists out there singing a song from one of the finest theater composers of all time! Linda Eder and Andrew Lloyd Webber....what a combination!
A God given voice and beauty! How Bless were are to have heard and seen the talents God gave her! Thank you for taking me back in time when I was young and full life for the future. Now the once future is present and the memories are of the past. Thank you for the gift of memories of special moments in time!
Linda is truly a sensation! About 10 years ago, I purchased tickets to see her in Houston, TX, and took my sister and her husband along. They'd never heard of Linda, but were so impressed and thoroughly dumbfounded how she wasn't better known in the music world. She'd played with the HSO many times before but still sold out the appearance and gave her audience the same powerful experience she always has. I've never been provided with a satisfactory reason why she is not acknowledged by her peers and the industry as one of the greatest. She almost out sings even Streisand. I wish some could tell me why. Was it some repercussion of her divorce from Wildhorn? Someone once told me it was about how she help the mic too close to her face and with an indelicate grip. As if... PS. We met and took photos with linds in the lobby of her hotel that night. She was absolutely unassuming and lovely.
Less than 48 hours till I get to be about 10 feet away from her and her amazing voice... Taking my 10 year old to show him what a REAL singer is.... We are both so very excited!!! :)
Oh man I can totally hit and hold it but no where near as beautifully as she does. Her control is so outstanding. My mom used to play her cd, especially "Vienna" in the car when I was little: I'm 30 now and her voice still sticks with me.
I told Linda one day, "You know what? You sing almost as good as I do in the shower." I got her to laughing and a good smile on her face. A beautiful woman and can sing like no one else.
She is awesome. I was fortunate enough to see her when she was doing Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway - and I waited back stage outside for her to come out with the rest of the cast. When I got to her in line I said 'i've been waiting over 7 years to hear you sing 'Someone like you' live - I have the concept album!' - and she said 'So have I honey, believe me - been waiting a long time!'. She was lovely. Met her again a few years ago at Sculler's Jazz club - I have a photo of the two of us. Love, Love LOVE her!
@6:41 i was sweating just watching and listening to this. excellent voice, brilliant. Like Barbra in her hey day. mariah cant sing like this. how about celine ? this woman should be a huge star. Bigger than all the ones that are popular now. jane has a lovely voice too but she cannot sing like this. How about lara fabian or hudson ? i think linda's above all of them. i need to speak to her manager.
I adore Linda. When she hits those high notes, I get the shivers. I keep checking her tour schedule, waiting for her to return to NYC. I wanted to see her Xmas show at Iggys, but it was the day before Thanksgiving & could not go. Thank you for posting this. I watch & listen to these live performances all the time, over and over again. She's so AMAZING! Linda - PLEASE do a show in NYC!!!
With a great, iconic song, it is a pleasure to check out all the covers that various artists have offered. I love this woman, so I won't say any other version is "better" just that for me, Sarah Bareilles is pretty amazing too. Just can't find it easily, there is one version on RU-vid but it is put together in an odd way.
when she raised her eyes brows up and down a few times at the end like "muahahah that's right bitch I held it that long" I lost it I never laughed so hard
Yew, she is still touring - mostly on weekends. You should check out her website. She will be making her canadian concert debut in April and I'm so gonna be there. It will be my first Linda-concert ever. You can also contact her agent Dave Hart and ask if she could come to your hometown. Then hopefully she'll make it there soon . :-))
If you don't mind travelling a bit - she'll be in Richmond Hill ( north of Toronto ) on December 18th !!! Linda just came out with a new Christmas CD !!!!!
Anybody who isbrave enough to attempt an iconuc Streisand song has to ve admires, hiwever she fares. Linda Evers dies pretty well, trying to go full throttle beltng out one of the best signature Funny Girl songs👍
And Menzel was asked to salute Streisand with Don't Rain on My Parade" at her Kennedy Center Honors. You tell me why? Because you never want the "underlings" to outshine the honoree... unless it's Beyonce or Aurmdra McDonald.
I just saw her in concert here in Florida last month and she is 58 yo and sounds like she is 38. I highly recommend visiting her website for tour dates, as she is much more magical in person. She is stunning too and does meet and greets.
