@@michaeljj43, it's a few second later, but the breathing technique can make it VERY difficult to notice, unless you know how to do it. It takes a LOT of time and practice to learn it. It's either at 3:10 or 3:14 she takes her last breath. Either way, it's REALLY impressive.
Linda Eder is truly one of the greatest singers in the world. I wish more people knew of her talent. Her breath control is phenomenal. 🎤 How sad that bad singing has become so commonplace. 🎶
Man.... what a voice. She is totally unnoticed by mainstream audiences but had she been around in the 30-50s she would've been a MEGASTAR in Hollywood golden era musicals. Jesus! That final note.... wooooooooo!
I first "met" Linda Eder through her 2005 (?) album, By Myself, a tribute to Judy Garland. It was love at first note, so to speak. I continue to find new treasures by Linda. This is VERY high in that list!
Is she the greatest, or what? What a voice!!! Why she isn't as well-known as Streisand or Dion is beyond me. The ballads are heart-rending, the broadway stuff is sensational. Love Ya, Linda.
What's so sad is that some of the greatest voices of all time, like Ms Eder, don't get the views, which is mainly because she started and stayed in the Broadway venue versus moving into the movies. I think Eder could have moved into this area if she wanted....
nah, she's not famous because she didn't want to be. There are tons of broadway singers that are still somewhat famous..even if in broadway. Linda eder..didn't want to be famous herself. www.dailypress.com/entertainment/music/vp-db-linda-eder-20200228-nncylrkgazajznaqvaqynqklsi-story.html and honestly i respect her for her choice. I think she did what was best for her.
Humm- I love Linda but she is NOT an actress at all! I have saw her her in Jekyll and Hyde, ouch! The voice I call her margarine (she is one of the closest to Barbra Streisand sounding after 1979- when Barbra got her tremolo, damn her). I have seen Linda at Carnegie Hall and many other places and trust me, her career is exactly where it should be. She isn’t unique enough and unfortunately for her like Lara Fabian or Roslyn Kind, is too much like Barbra and lacks the incomprehensible charisma she has. But having said all that, Linda is an amazing singer, that isn’t rivaled by many!
@@rodgolson ,once Linda eder takes the mic,it's majic.unlike Barbra,Linda has no ego.linda eder chose not to be that famous.at one point she was raising her son.as of now,her passion is spending time on the farm with horses.linda eder's voice is quite compelling.not only does Linda have an abundance of talent, she is the most down to earth person.in my candid opinion,Linda's all around performance in Jekyll and Hyde was superb.given a choice to see Barbra or Linda perform live,it's Linda eder.
I just discovered Linda Eder on Sirius’ Broadway channel singing ‘A New Life’ from Jeykill & Hyde. My God, what a voice. Where have I been all of these years.....
I grew up listening to Streisand, but I can tell you there is no question that Linda Eder is one of the greatest soprono vocalists of all time. So many try to also compare Streisand with Shirley Bassey even though they have completely different voices, but it's Bassey who has the more powerful voice. Here, Linda Eder shows who is best!
Man, the choice to go up on that last 'Parade' really sets this performance apart for me. Simply amazing control and never heard anyone else do it like that!
Naya Rivera does it pretty similar at the last ’Parade’. At the beginning of Parade she keeps it in the origianl key but than she goes up at the end. You should really listen to her version if you havn’t.
That is world class by anyones standards, I cant understand why she is not up there with the best, there are not many voices in the world as good as hers?, she is practically unheard of in the UK?
For one thing, at the height of her popularity and success, she had her child and decided to prioritize looking after him. She also decided that she couldn't handle that level of mad fame where you have to be ushered into cars quickly lest you get mobbed. So, part of it is by her own choice. The other part is while some critics, particularly the ones at Chicago Sun Times, seem to gush about her singing, there are others who prefer to hold up a magnifying glass and spot 'problems' to carp on.
Miami: I certainly agree with you. I have most of Streisand's LP's, and I think she has a beautiful voice. BUT, if people were really honest they would agree that she has not been able to sing with such vocal projection, intensity, and with the ability to hold those big notes like Eder shows here for decades. Even Streisand's 1975 clip, shown on RU-vid, can't match this! But, they both have beautiful voices, and I appreciate them both.
Babs can't sing like this anymore. Not even close. Eder's got the goods and has kept her voice in top shape. I saw Linda sing this in Houston last year... Sounded EXACTLY the same.
barbra is 79 yrs old. good god. check out her version from the 70s. Eder, like a lot of wanna-be's HAMMMM IT UP. Barbra doesn't milk notes like a preacher or star search performance.
LINDA EDER'S VOICE IS SECOND TO NONE: I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SEE HER IN CONCERT ABOUT 10 TIMES; HOWEVER, IT'S BEEN TOO MANY YEARS SINCE LAST SEEING HER. SHE'S GOING TO BE AT THE STATE THEATRE IN EASTON PA. THIS SATURDAY: IF ONLY MY CAR WERE IN BETTER CONDITION??????????? :(
We had the enormous privilege of seeingLinda for the first time at the Sharon in the Villages Nov 2, 2016. I was amazed. Not only is she a great singer but she has the poise to take her audience on a roller coaster ride to heaven. I thank my lucky stars that someone as special as she is came to ENTERTAIN us. Thank you Linda Eder!
LINDA EDER is an amazing singer! In this video Linda sings this classic Streisand song every bit as well as Barbara! Great voice! This is as close to perfection as I've ever heard the song performed. I think Linda is truly amazing!
LINDA EDER! I really think Linda is a fabulous singer! She has an amazing voice! I really don't quite understand why she isn't known worldwide. Nevertheless I like her a real lot!
Linda does not come up for air!!!!! I have been a Streisand fan my entire life.....Linda however does sing way better....still a Babs fan...but Linda you are the tops!!!
Linda is........an Imatator. Barbra & Garland. Linda doesn't have an original bone in her body. Remember that low selling "country" album she did?😆 Linda never made it big because she Un-Original.💯
Linda completely OWNS. It's crazy to think that some people actually prefer Lea's weak little summer-stock belt over Linda's rich, well-trained vocals.
I grew up being a die-hard adoring Barbra fan, but I must be honest and say that I much prefer Ms. Eder's version of this classic song so much more so. For once, I can actually understand the lyrics! Ms. Streisand's annunciation has always been a mystery to me and as much as that song was a personal theme, it is not even more so. Ms. Eder is a vocal force and stage presence to be reckoned with. Oh, to have been in that audience and be blown away for the very first time!!
Having seen Eder and Streisand over the years...LIVE....they are both magnificent performers. For those who deride Eder....see her live and you will eat your words.
@@iamisiam818 Linda is at least on par with Barbara as a mezzo soprano and Regine is the best lyrical coloratura soprano ever to sing that song on RU-vid. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lj4Qtu8ZIQ8.html. However, people who can not distinguish between the recording quality and the voice as such will not understand this. They might want to listen to "Songbird Sings The Classics", especially Song 15 on Qobuz.
Two different renditions of the same song.... Barbra's is more subtle and introspective. Linda's is in your face and a show of force. You gotta judge them on what they were trying to do... and both were great.
I'm with everyone else, there is no comparison between her and Barbara. I think Linda Eder is one of the most talented singers ever and she is so original. No one sings like her.
Wow, as a lifelong, die-hard Barbra fan, I have to give this woman a virtual standing ovation. That gave me goose pimples...that ending was epic epic epic.
Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. Linda Eder is such a great singer. It is too bad that barely anyone (on MY side of the world at least) knows who she is. A real shame. Bravo Linda Eder!!
