I had forgotten how beautiful she was; and WOW that voice! How many of todays female artist's could sing as naturally as she did without electronic embellishment?
@@100perdido well as far as i know, she has now stopped recording or appearing, as singer, on stage. The reasons are well known and dont need to be spread out here any further.
10 years later RU-vid recommends this from 51 years ago. All I can say is, Oh Linda. My God. Words can't describe how fine you are. Just know that we still love you.
People can't get enough of Linda Ronstadt! We talk about how sexy, fine and talented she is. But I think always, there is respect. Name a single sex symbol who commands such respect. Linda is one of a kind.
Only 23 years old here, she is totally broadcasting her Mexican American Arizona ancestor good looks with her multi colored dress, hoop ear rings, dark hair and eyes. And of course her flawless singing who she credits her father and specifically Mexican country singer Lola Beltran.
@@earthanora2684 - there's no doubt Willa Holland is pretty , I'll give you that ! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 But Linda in my opinion is considerably far more attractive. 😏😏😏😏😏 My comparisons equal too Linda wood be ! 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Now correct me if you think otherwise ! 😱😱😱😱😱😱 That other beautiful woman wood be Shania twain !!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
There is no doubt, Linda Ronstadt is and always will be the best female singer ever. If this planet continues for a million years, she will always ride at the top.
A very prophetic song about her life. She never did marry though she dated her share of men, she stayed true to herself and the life she chose. A life of sharing her great singing voice with the world through almost every form of music. I, for one, would like to say, "Thank you Linda, thanks for everything!!"
+Greenwolfe Green I don't think for one minute she never wanted to marry. She wore two A lister's rocks on her fingers. She was a normal girl, if an abnormally beautiful one. She wanted to marry but that time in her life passed as it does (Governor Jerry Brown decided she wastoo left wing and all that jogging the beach came to mean nothing).
+una mckillen Compared to the ultra right-wing Jerry Brown, Governor Moonbeam? I don't think so. Linda has yet to discuss this relationship that I am aware of, but I assumed it was bad timing. Both were focused on their respective careers in the late 1970's....
Linda Ronstadt could sing anything in any genre. Country, blues, pop, rock, bluegrass, show tunes, Tejano, folk, you name it, she could, and did, sing it and sound sensational. One of my favorite singers of the 60's and 70's. Likewise Johnny Cash. Either solo or duet up with Roy Clark, The Highwaymen, June Carter and her kin, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny magnified every song he sang!
Speaking of Roy Clark, He played once with the Boston Pops, and was obviously so nervous, But I observed that the musicians there were obviously great fans of that country boy. So un appreciative of his own great talent. He and Glen Campbell,
Linda, I hope that you are watching yourself on this video. I want to thank you for so many wonderful songs that made my life more beautiful. Millions of us thank you Linda 😘❤️😘
i work with a split screen, half side working, half side listening to the music. but when i heard these two, i stopped working and swallowed really hard! what voices, what talent!
I've been in love with Linda R. forever, and in my case many years. I've never seen her or any woman look more beautiful than she does here. And, she sings great also.
... and it has become my favorite song. The two performers together are incredable. And Linda so cute. What a chick she was. Greetings from Germany ... ❤
I remember watching this show and at the time it was quite shocking that she was in a mini-outfit barefoot onstage singing before she joined Johnny Cash because people were not used to seeing that but when Linda opened her mouth and sang all were hypnotized by her stunning voice.
What a beautiful version of this song. She had such a dynamic and far ranging voice. A voice for the ages - there will never be another one like her. Linda you are loved and your music will live forever.
You know one of my favorite things about this performance? Watching him listen to her at certain parts. He was possibly more impressed than he thought he’d be. And he did such a good job at framing her up as if to display a flower. He wasn’t “show-boating” or anything even though it was his show. He was humble and showed her to be admired. AND LORD DID SHE SHOW UP FOR THAT BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE. The professionalism and mutual appreciation seemed so good, and such a VERY RARE opportunity for anyone to witness. THE OTHER ONE of my favorite things, is the perfection of how their vibratos matched and fell together. I mean, Hi, can you please exquisitely tell a story about a suicide yet make it sound adorably charming..?? Almost irresponsible how well they did that song! LOL!
I want to say so many things about this. I really do. I cannot find the words. I’ve never been a folk music fan, but this is SPECIAL. Like, A ROYAL, only once, MOMENT. If you understand why this is so good, you have had a tear in your eye listening to and watching this at some point. For the rest, I’m going to have to get back to you when I can find a way to explain it to you. I love the way she felt the need to face his face, not just because a true duet involves a connection, but because with listening while singing, your reverberation is measured by how it bounces off of what you are singing toward, and she did it to match his. Brilliant. And HELLO, it’s Johnny Cash and Linda Ronstadt! She was the most versatile vocalist I’ve ever witnessed.
Good lord - how in the world could Johnny concentrate with a young Linda sitting close with those eyes that could melt steel and that voice. whew. Devastating talent and looks. Johnny was the man.
if Linda's hair was still dark I would say she looks just the same as she always has to me for the last maybe 40 years . Linda your just as beautiful today, thank you for all the joy you have given us.
Linda you look so beautiful in mind, soul, and body. And your voice in this song is a great complement to Johnny Cash. I hope your health stays well, and your book sell well
@@edmundpower1250 This is the first time I seen this awesome video. I never seen them sing together. Johnny was (still is, RIH) my fav. country guy, Linda had awesome songs, also...and was very popular w/ pop music.
Never saw this before, although a fan for some 45 years. This was before even Silk Purse. She's incredible. In spite of all the recognition she has had, she is still one of the most under-rated artists of our time.
Hello, cowgirl in the sand, Is this place in your command? Can I stay here for a while? Can I see your sweet, sweet smile? The muse for California rockers.
At 74 she is still a fine looking lady. She survived and thrived in a tough business that brought down so many other singers and musicians. Love her to bits!
What a lovely recording. Oh-my-goodness is Linda Ronstadt beautiful here! Just a stunning natural beauty! In her great spirit she still is, even though she's so ill with Parkinson's that she can't sing anymore. As for Johnny Cash, he in his way looks very handsome here. He, too, cut quite a dashing figure in his day.
A great combination. Johnny Cash the master. Pretty Linda holds her own. It was all about the artist and the song back then. No computer pyratecnics or blue screen. Also no tattoos.
@Spike Elwood Spike. Check out Katie Melua Christmas Eve Jazz FM. Great playlist. Great radio voice. Beautiful Georgian British Woman. No nose rings or tongue studs. Great singer songwriter.
Linda holds her own? As far as singing voice, it would be more a case of Johnny keeping up with Linda. He has his qualities but he is not in her class.
