Linda Yearby, played for the 8th grade boys basketball team in 1949. When she graduated HS, she became a female professional basketball player for the Texas Cowgirls, she made $5 a day. Her team was the opening act for the Harlem Globetrotters, she learned her craft from Marquise Haynes of the globetrotters, Later Hank Williams sang at their halt time shows and after he passed hank Jr was the entertainment. She also coached the Harlem Chicks a life of basketball from a a school the size of 30 students. She now has a street named after her and she was inducted into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.
