Lindbergh Field & Downtown San Diego, early 1970s 

I remember as a kid watching plane fly in and out of Lindbergh.

It was the best place to do plane spotting

Wow, thanks! My family flew from St. Louis to San Diego on those shiny American Airlines jets back in this era. You've sparked some happy flashbacks.

Look how close you could go and watch the planes take off and land! I know because my dad would pickup mortadella, provolone and french bread and Italian cookies from Felippes and we would go and watch the planes!!!! ❤

I used to live on the rim of "The teacup". Aircraft landing in San Diego came in low over my place.

Wow! I've been looking for vintage footage of Lindbergh Field for quite some time. I saw a Western Airlines 737-200, but I couldn't put my finger on the American 4-engine aircraft. My guess is a 707 or 720.
