Hey Man, enjoyed this video. Offers a lot of sense. I’ve had a Helix for a few years now and only really scratched the surface of what it can do. I’ve recently been building patches for Smashing Pumpkins songs due to the open auditions. It’s been so much fun trying to nail the tones for the different albums/eras but I’m sure I can refine them further. I’m going to check your other Helix videos out for ideas 👍🏻
Good preset. I use the studio mic preamp in front of the cab block - same concept but it’s a clean enhancement. Set it to “line in” mode, level at 100% then pull up the gain up until I hear it hit the cab - very slight. Think I’ll give the Kinky a go on more driven presets. Thx!
You are a master at getting huge sounds out of the Helix! I've got and HX Stomp and Helix Native, so I have a way to hear what you've designed for the full Helix, then whittle it down a bit so it will work on the Stomp. Helix Native is a real boon for Stomp users. Thanks
Great stuff as usual Jonny! I have to say, recent firmware updates, and certainly including the Revv amp models, almost made me reconsider getting a Helix after many years away. I picked up a used FM3 and FC12, but every now and then I still wonder.
@JonnyLeeguitarist mr Johnny i need some help and you may be my only hope , im trying to get a Tonex pedal conected to my Helix and im using jasons Sadites 4cm like he suggest but when i hook the pedal into the loop it takes away the connection i use there with real amp ( the tonex is in place of real amp ) jason said i could use my power cab but im not sure how to now , so do you think i use my normal l6 cable with my outputs to multiple and just run it li,e i do normally when not on 4cm preset any thoughts
@@artytoney2057 not really sure what the issue would be , maybe something within tone X , but yeah I don’t see why you can’t use the L6 lead . I have no experience of Tone X and don’t do 4cm anymore so I’m limited in what I can tell you .
It also seems to my ears that quality-wise, that stock newer Moon T75 cab sounds just as good as that OH IR you're using as well. The only reason I'm guessing they sound different is that there's different mics in use, but they both seem quite good.
Thanks. Great video. Am I the only one who always ends up fighting excessive bass on the Helix? I'm lucky enough to have a few guitars, a FRFR monitor, and studio monitors. Everything has too much bass and I'm fighting it all the time.
Using some of your tricks, I've sent recordings to ppl and they want to go out and buy a helix on the spot - there's some positive feedback for you! Is that the standard mic on the moon cab? It always sounds really filtered for me when I try it.
That’s awesome mate ! , thank you .. yes standard mic on the cab , try moving the position of it to see if that helps , different pickups , cables and playback system will all have slight affect on the tone . Thanks for watching I appreciate it .
