I came here in 2024 just to say that the M13 is not dead! I bought one today and I'm looking forward to trying it out! I don't think there are many multi-effects with your proposal yet.
You don't need to hold down the scene select button to change scenes, you just tap it then select one of the 12 scenes, much quicker and faster than shown in the video!
I wouldn't be without my M13. It's everything you will ever need in one box. Tough, robust and rugged. Yes I know those three words all mean the same thing but had mine about three years and worth every penny.
@diegojosegonzalez....i dont have a hands on experience withthe hd500 but i do havethe M13. I run it through a fender blues deluxe and couldnt be happier. I get the best of both worlds....great distorted tones AND, what ive always had trouble getting, a GREAT clean sound. For me, this is all i need. Going to get expression pedal soon and play with that. Check it out and compare to the hd500. Good luck
Used an XTlive through an Egnater Rebel 20.... gigged with it for three years until I went back to using Boss stomp boxes, and an Ibanez TS9, and they kick the arse out of anything i've used by Line 6... Pleased the sounds working out for you though!
Well, actually, is not to mix a chorus with a flanger, but what about two dist, one as a booster, with comp, pre or post, or have available two dist and two OD and mix them. Yes, I know, stompboxes can do that, but I'm looking for something to "plug and play". Anyway, thanks to point me to the zoom G7, it looks good! The path is not that fixed and can be changed. Now, I have to investigate about three (Thank you so much for complicate my decision! ;) jejeje!)
This little Brotha' is one of the BEST players around anywhere ... such an extensive knowledge of gear and tones ... I agree with akosiredred ... BEST Product Reviews for LOTS of effects and amps ... keep up the good work Paul ...
Sorry that I only now found this video. I am slow to purchase sometimes though I own practically everything Line 6 has put on the market for Guitar. Your work was brilliant and I hope you are still doing very well at what you do. Of course, one would need quite a bit longer than you had to fully show the breadth of what is this ”group is pedals” can do, but I am considering grabbing one of these instead of going down the “Helix Road”. Thanks again for your attention to detail and your dedication to the art of playing guitar and collecting pedals. God bless you. Cheers/Slainte. 🫶✌️♾️. 🎸👨🏼⚕️. 🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸Roctor
I've heard this pedal a few times live... Can you say "No thump?" Sounds so flat and no punch.. very digital sounding. Don't get me wrong.. It has some really cool sounds.. but I can't get the same punch I get out of stompboxes with it.
Just bought one of these....VERY versatile! I traded in my M5 for one...I liked the M5 so much I looked at the other pedals (and cables) in my chain and thought "this is getting stupid". I took all my pedals in and wound up with one of these....Kick Ass!
Thanks Paul, watch your demoes a lot, an expression pedal demo on the way would have been a plus, being the editor of Guitar World , its hard to fathom why you didn't have one ?
@aceman42 haha i have the exact same question. but what my friend said was that Line 6 M13: has a few great pedals. but their higher gains aint that good Digitech: trashy (no idea wat the hell that means) POD: doesnt work well with an amp. works better when plugged in to an PA system
@kizmetx Damn, so my Rage 158 15 watt isn't gonna sound too hot? haha. Oh well I'm still getting an M13 if it kills me! Certainly can't sound any worse.... Anyway - being as I live in a small flat, not sure the neighbors would like me much if I had an AC30.....!
I have a hard tubes Dakus Kruk wave 22 Tripple artery and it grinds and binds It does not have a grumble chop switch witch I think is the only fall down but I've had it for 11 years and I've been thinking about selling it .. It will possibly be for sale on ???
I think it's a good video. I just bought this pedal, I had viewed this demo and others prior to buying. To answer some of the questions, you can change effects settings like tone and effect level on the fly. That's what those buttons do on the top. If you have the unit in autosave mode its just like having actual pedals, it remembers the last settings you tweaked.
Looks a fanatastic Unit... Iss it good for really big walls of sounds like heavy delays Sortaa Thing??? i was gonna get the space echo but this looks good enough for everythin:) So yess good for shoegazee???? cheers!!
@eltiogamboin erm, the whole point of a pure tube amp, is to get the purest sound, the reason it sounds pleasing to you in this demo, is because it sounds how it should sound... There's no point buying any pedals unless you've got a decent sounding valve amp anyway! You don't have to spend anything like a grand to get hold of a perfectly good valve amp
ok i have 2 questions. 1. can i change each button? i mean the guy right there set the first button wah. can i change wah's button and make it overdrive or something? 2. can i use the m13 pedal WITH other pedals? i mean my gear was so far mxr pedals. is it can i use this pedal with the mxr pedals? thanks
Paul does a good job at demoing stuff like this. I think this video better illustrates the function of the m13 better than any other video out there. And for the two comments below; Go back to metal shredding in your bedroom.
@aceman42 Don't buy any of em! By yourself a good overdrive and a tube amp. and by the question, i think you might be playing on an ibanez or a schecter? so maybe start with a good guitar first.
@eltiogamboin I don't think they're using an amp. I know he's saying amp, but I don't think they would use an amp on a demo for this thing. I'm pretty sure he's running straight into a mixer.
it does have amp models on it its based off of all of the line 6 stomp boxes including the distortion which has amp models so it does have amp models this pedal is better than the boss in my opinion....
This is probably a pretty stupid question, but is this an amp or something you connect your amp to, and in your own opinion is this something a metal guitarist would benefit greatly from?
@maunder69 most newer Line 6 amps are basically preset for metalish type of playing. normally dont need a distortion pedal with it unless you just want an even heavier sound.
What's up with the camera zooming in on the guitar??? Frankly, I don't give a shit about his guitar playing. I want to see how the pedal works! Focus in on that!
zoom is bad.. i got 2 friends using zoom's newest pedal.. the one that has 2 tubes.... it really.... really... sucks... sounds terrible... believe me guys...
to much buttons that if ur playin live u would be tap dancing on the board the x3 live have all these effects with programming so u only have to press 1 button
I just watched this M13 Guitar World product demonstration Video. So...this video states up to 12 Scene Effect Combinations can be saved. However, I walked away being very unclear about how to switch between saved "scenes". I didn't think that was well explained at all which is odd to me. I would have explained that. Also, see masking tape labels in a product demo video is weird. Does a roll of off-white masking tape come with your purchase? haha!
@gangtwanger thanks man...i have been using analog effects. and i have a not so huge pedalboard.about ten analog pedals and i wanted to have more and i dont want to bring all those analog pedals on small venues gig.so thats why i asked for a good multi effects pedal.i have tried a lot of them and i have to agree, all the dirt pedals that comes with the multi effetcs are not so good.i was wondering if i can just get two or three analog pedals and put it into the loop on the M13 .
I wish they focused the camera more on the fx than his guitar while he was playing...wasn't he demoing the pedal?Still he's good, of course, he wouldn't be the editor if he wasn't right? Love the Pedal!;)
Distortions and compressors are useless if they don't have a way to run it through the front of the amp while the others go through the loop...why don't multi fx manufacturers put this feature on these units?
I have the m13. People keep saying the distortion suck.. Well the overdrives like tube drive, and tube screamer don't suck. Also the overdrive model doesn't suck. I am using a vox ac4tv and a usa strat so it may be making a difference. If you put a line6 m13 on a solid state amp and cheap guitar is like putting ice cream on top of barf!
lol your Rhythm sound has more drive than my lead, but that's whats cool about it after all...some of us wouldnt play that distorted but enjoy listening to anyone make good use of it
i was just trying to think why is this any good :/ watching till about half way through i found it out, i can see what your saying and i agree with you.
Which units can come close to delivering the same options? I'm looking for something as flexible as this (you know, four OD at the same time, or four delays) and found nothing. All ME that I saw have a fix effects chain that is not possible to change, or allow only one type of effect at the time (one OD/DI, one mod, one delay....). I heard that nova system has better sounds, but is not as flexible a this (fixed effects chain)
I belive the 4 cable method allows you to use your amps preamp...I'm I don't know how you can split the distortions and comps from the delays and choruses..etc. unless there are two separate outputs/inputs in the pedal.
yeah man i hear you, this weekend im gonna buy the boss ME-70, my mates dad has the me-50 and iv seen so many video's to do with both. of course im going to try before i buy but from what iv seen its everything that ill need for a verrrryyyy long time. this how ever :/ exactly the same expet with an extra stomp switch and no wah pedal
3:17 and 5:17, 5:57 make you realize just how bad some of these tones are. Cheesy, cheesy, cheesy. Lots of potential in the M13 concept, but Line 6 is the Peavey of effects pedals. They seem to go just so far and then cut all the corners that might make it good. Always disappointing. Maybe the next generation will work out.
And for people watching the video that know only what this video had to say about the M13, there is also a stereo effects loop you can route your existing pedals into. It has allowed me to put some nice OD pedals after volume/wah/comp/pitch/etc. but before my mod/verb/delay/etc, which was a make or break for me. I must say that if nothing else, this is a tremendous experimentation and/or practice tool. Though the M13 has served me very well on many occasions in and out of practice. But I agree
Watch my cover of September Ends on my channel.. I use the m13 solely for this cover. You can get an idea what the booster compressor, reverb, and distortions sound like.
This is a fantastic piece of gear. Two years in so far and it has been reliable and sounds great. Certainly there are analog pedals that have a character that it can't reproduce, but when it comes to writing, rehearsing and playing live, it's a very smart box. I used to run 13 pedals live, and trust me, having one of them (or their cables) fail in front of 2000 people is no fun. Try it out! You may feel like we do that it was designed a bit more intelligently than some other all in one units.
@slash646 This isn't a modeler in the typical line6 sense. I'm with you. I had a pod, etc, and it just never really cut up. But, that was mostly due to the amp/cab processing. Since this has none, it's simply effects which have always been good. If you're looking to get a fender sound, buy a fender. because this will only give you 'your amp here'' + chorus/etc.
@maunder69 it is a pedalboard that you connect to your amp, and I would say that it is suitable for a metal guitarist. I do not have it though, but i play metal and have a lot of Line 6 stuff, and since they have put all their stompboxes into to this pedalboard, i would be disappointed if the "metal" and "insane" modes weren't there. :D
can you use the M13 with a POD HD model? and if so how can you hook the too up together (keep in mind all i have is an amp and guitar and HD400) i wanna use the M13 for extra effects..how do i hook it up or can i??
If you had to choose only one of these for your Guitar Effect Processors, which would YOU choose? 1: Line 6 M13 2: Line 6 Helix HX,....... orrrrrr.... 3: TC Electronic G Major 2?.....Yes, I'm aware I'd have to purchase a seperate MIDI Controller....Ugggghhh!!!! Basically, which model gives you the most bang for the buck and versitility? I'm REALLY having a hard time deciding between the 3!!!! Great Demo, by the way and thank you for your time, KK
depends on what do you want, if don't have a great amp, and you want to record like pros, buy pod x3. if you want a lot of stompboxes for your great amp buy the m13
i have one. i like it. it sounds good. it has effects. i use a fender twin reverb. i use an american standard strat. it sounds good. yes. it does. it sounds good. great pedal. if u tweak it it doesnt matter what amp u use. u can make it sound good. line 6 is good. good pedal. sounds good. i have one. its pretty good.
I just got this thing today and even though it's expensive, it's worth every cent! Since I am a beginning guitar player this gives me lots of room to find my "sound."
