I love this multi effects unit, the sounds are superb. But the operating system is a little bit clunky and certainly not intuitive. I can totally forgive Line 6 for that, but it did prompt me to put together a short tutorial.
This video made me even more aware of what I dont know when it comes to sound production lol I've had one of these since new. It was confusing then and its still confusing now lol all these pre that, amp this, cabinet that. I miss just stomping on a pedal that had dials i adjusted but I'd like to master this contraption one day!
Thanks for this Gearfacts. I've had a PodXT Live for over a decade and I have lived in the safe space of my favorite patches, but after recently watching a number of pedal board walk throughs with my guitar idol Paul Gilbert and seeing how much he accomplishes with just 7 pedals, I know that the mighty PodXT Live can basically accomplish the same things. So now I am finally diving into Line6 Edit and learning better how to experiment with the board. This video helped explain a few hidden gems like the Mod before/after setting (GOLD!). Thanks again!
I rediscovered the XT Pods recently. I had shelled out $700 when they were new for the bean and the Shortboard. Moved onto tubes for quite awhile after that and sold the gear. Caught a XT Live at GC for $120 and couldn't resist. I remember the deep editing haze I would get but after some time the tones and over all package is still impressive. For me its a grab and go Di'd into the pa most time. I lucked out and have the FX Junkie pack but no Metal or Classic packs. also no way too purchase them I guess. Great tutorial and thanks.
Ah cool man, that's great to hear! Yes I think the Spider Jam is one of the classics, though not for the reasons most people think about when it comes to guitar amps. It's the incredible versatility that makes it great. I ended up getting that small Fender Mustang amp that I reviewed at DW Music a couple of years ago. The amp snobs would laugh, I know, but it ticks all my boxes :)
I have TWO of these. They're great sounding pedals and they're easy to operate once you get the hang of it. Perfect for a cover band! I have all my songs set up in different banks. It's super convenient. Hook a Variax 500 or 700 guitar up (like I do) and you've got everything from gorgeous Martin acoustic guitar tones to 25 other guitars from Fender, Gibson, Gretsch and Rickenbacker. The pedal does all the guitar/amp/fx switching for you. I can play all the great classic rock songs that have acoustic guitar intros and wailing solos, without even switching guitars! It's a brilliant combination. Even without the Variax guitar, it's a killer pedal board.
I just picked one of these up, and would also like to add that the usb can connect to your computer with Line 6 Gearbox/PodFarm2 to make and add many more sounds to the custom banks!
G-Brand is for Gibson 1 x10classic time stamp ish 2.15 ,mine developed a nasty 3.5khz ringing hiss sound(bad cap)? ,and the toe down wha on never worked well still love it switched the toe down to a toggle switch
oh and i forgot to mention you can get even more effect patches on the world wide web.there are many packs to get and the computer side of this is the best. but it does come with so much.there are no videos that do it much justice,it would take 2 or 3 days to just gloss over what it can do.get one if you can.
I bought one in around 2001-ish and I used it mainly from 2017-2021 after I inherited my rock band from the exiting founders. One of the attenuators started breaking up so I gave it up and built a traditional pedalboard, but I still miss my pod-XT presets (like changing 5 of my pedals with one button, and they sounded great! through a Fender FM100 twin). I recently bought a used pod-XT, but I still need to reprogram it. I'm hoping to find a good tutorial on programming it via USB on my PC.
Hey, did you find a way to program/updating the firmware? Would love to be able to update mine but the downloader for the software is no longer active.
Hi Glynn, did you replace 2 knobs for select and effect tweak?? they don't look like the original ones, Because I have a Line 6 POD XT Live. Nice tutorial BTW.
I did indeed. As you can see I was having a bit of a contrast problem between the dark controls and the light display. I was hoping that the silver knobs would alleviate this a bit... they didn’t.
this is an amazing thing.it will litteraly save $$1,000,000$$..and a professional cannot tell this apart from what it is simulating..built to last many world tours, annd is what i think what all good muti fx sould strive for.do your self and every one hearing you a favour and just get this..get it.find one and get one ,or two.oh and in an effectss loop,it just kills.
Hi Gearfacts, please help me out! I just bought this pedal and it does a strange thing. If a select a patch/preset, let's say 21A and then I go to 23A and press stomp or anything else, basically changing parameters, it jumps back to 21A. Another problem is that often the patches loose their specific sounds, so when I go through them they all sound the same. I read that it could be an issue with the frequencies of parameters and the way the pedal reacts to them. Would you have any clues?
I believe you were on 23A, and then switched to 21A, but didn't select it. When the LED next to the pedal is flashing, it isn't selected. When you change banks, you have to press a pedal to change to that patch, and the LED should go solid.
@@gearfacts I can buy one of these for 110€. I think that is slightly above the current rate. Do you think it is worth that? To be honest, I've watched a lot of videos, and they have not demoed sensible sounds. I've not really heard any tones that have made me sit up and listen and go 'wow'.
Yes I probably should have been clearer about that - You have to download Line 6's "Monkey" software and use it to do the reset. It's not exactly convenient... #gearfacts
So I have a volume issue that I came to this video for. Everything is hooked up just the way it should and I’ve been scrolling through settings to see if there was something turned down, but couldn’t find anything. Another thing is that it won’t get off the tuner pedal.
Hello there I am a little confused about the outputs on this BASS POD, I also have a POD XT Live (Guitar Model) and the outputs on that one are Left /Mono and Right but on the BASS POD it is Model and D.i. I had read all the entire manual and i think i understand how it works, but my question is: are those outputs mono or stereo? I am connecting it to a DAW and I want to use the MODEL and I really have no clue how to connect it stereo un less the output jack is balanced, thanks
@EduardoGondim Hi, i'm not sure it's useful for your problem....but at the position 32D there is the type " calibration" !! I don't know if it is about expression pedal calibration!! Greetings from Italy
Would you ever run this unit through the effects loop? If so, please describe when you would do this...and when you wouldn't. Thanks! Also, I'm running a bass through this...probably shouldn't be, but I have the gear I have :).
Hey I'm all for using bass with non-bass equipment. Absolutely no harm in it and you might find a few interesting sounds and ideas :) Effects loop is mainly for when you want to insert the tone of your amp earlier in the effects chain (I think!)
Check cable functionality, check they are in the correct sockets. Press pedal forward in case it is set to volume, check output level, maybe ..could be many things!
@Gearfacts Thanks. I had it hooked up like that. Turns out the guy I bought it from gave me the wrong power supply, so it turned on but wouldn't work. I got the right power block boom it comes on!!
I’m pretty sure it can be recorded direct from its USB socket. If I’m wrong about that, all you need is a simple audio interface like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f9CwfUdc4bU.html
I don't understand this at all, I know no musical terms tryna set this up and its just infuriating, cant even download the tones off the website because I need to register its serial number and give a reciept....
@@gearfacts I have it working now, cant download tones so i have to adjust all of it on my own, I understand it now your video was helpful i just needed to watch it again bahaha thank you
