I have an MKII HD100 head that was incorrectly diagnosed having tube issues. Volume fluctuation and distortion cutting in and out. The power amp is good. Local repair shop finally came to conclusion that it's the digital board. They randomly tapped the board listening for different sounds . Nothing like what you're doing here. Supposedly they're an authorized repair shop. I think they basically guessed about the board knowing I wasn't about to throw much more into this money pit. Really wish I had your skills and could get ahold of an actual service manual. Great work man!
Amazing. I had the same problem and almost threw the amp out. The exact same resisters and cap was burnt in my SV212 and since you did all the investigative work all I have to do is replace the parts. Thank you so much.
Thanks for putting this on here. I have a 212 version with the same problem. I left R53 in place as it was still reading OK. I changed the capacitor, and its now working again.
my R53 measured good and I thought I'd try changing C20 however this didn't fix it. It also appears someone else has had a go at repairing that pcb as it is now mounted in upside down and the ribbon cables have been shortened. I would like to find an old donor amp to replace that pcb.

Super video, I bought a used and broken amp with this same issue. Could you please share the link to the other video (s). Would be great to see how this issue was solved.

Nice video: very detailed and precise. However, could you send/post the link to the video with the solution to that problem? Best regards from Germany!

R54 is a surface mount type and the package size mostly determines the power. I think it is an 0805 size This may be an option: www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/nte-electronics-inc/SR1-0805-5D1/11650917
How do you go about replacing the regulators my line 6 only has one regulator and it’s split right in half breaking it right through the middle causing my amp to have no sound thanks for the video and I was just wondering where could I go about ordering one of these parts I’m kind of trying to stay away from the repair man, that is a little expensive
Is it a Spider Valve 112 amp? If yes is it the MC7805 shown at 6:29? or the LM1086 shown at 7:20? or other? These options would likely work, however it is possible something else is also damaged which could cause the replacement part to fail. For this reason I often buy more than 1 replacement. If you are not familiar with how to safely work on high voltage tube amps. Learn that first.. Digikey part number for the 7805: MC7805CT-BPMS-ND Digikey part number for the LM1086: 2156-LM1086CT-ADJ-ND The 7805 gets very hot. I have a heatsink mod video to help increase the 7805 lifespan: rumble.com/vlnc5f-line-6-spider-valve-112-custom-5v-regulator-heat-sink006.html
I have the same amp, but my issue is a little bit different. I have all the led indicators and the LCD working fine, only with the front input jack i don't have any sound. What could it be?
The input jack is part of a small pcb assembly which I think includes an op-amp. My first guess is the input jack itself has mechanical damage, its solder joints to the pcb cracked, or the op-amp failed. If the failure was gradual/intermittent, likely the input jack. If it went from fully working to not working, more likely the op-amp.
I have the MKII and it has sound when plugging into the power in, but no sound in the input jack. But all my lights are on and everything else seems to be fine. Just no sound through input jack. Have any suggestions? Thanks

@@mevmevmev Thanks man! the solder joints look fine. It did just stop woking all at once. I can't find a replacement input jack anywhere. Any Suggestions?
@@shredding51 Nothing simple. I would inject a signal and trace it with an oscilloscope to see if it makes it out of the input jack pcb assembly. You could replace the op amp and hope that is the bad part, but even that requires surface mount soldering skills.
