Line coding DOES NOT help in reducing ISI, that's the work of Equalizers!!! It was my Viva question...

Polar code has both positive and negative levels and bipolar too has positive and negative levels then what the heck is the difference between the two

The Polar Signaling scheme assigns 0's as a negative pulse, while assigning 1's as a positive pulse. The Bipolar scheme assigns 0's as zero amplitude pulse, and alternates the polarity of the pulse for 1's. Additionally, Polar Signaling has a max amplitude of A/2, while Bipolar Signaling has Amax of A. Hope this helps.
