Line strength has little to do with the size of the fish!

Nick, I agree with you 150% on this video. You’ve been there and done it to know what works for you in any situation to successfully get the job done. Sometimes you just got to let those who don’t understand to explain what it is.

Way back when; I used 25 pound monofilament for the same reasons. 9 1/4 inch Fliptail worm, 5/0 hook and few losses from break offs.

Also, I agree with the end of your vid! I always feel awful when my lure breaks off! Just straight up littering or worse just leaving a fish with a big hunk of plastic in its mouth! …obviously it hurts my wallet too lol

You tell em! Some days...i wish i had used 70lb vs 65lb braid. That's my excuse for losing fish in the Delta slop, lol.

I love 70lbs or 80lbs braid line spool on; thought I was crazy. The fish don’t mind it plus I don’t get line digging down onto my spool. The only downside is you can’t get as much line onto the spool.

Yep, exactly

It’s weirder to me when people say they’re using like 15lb braid on a caster. I think people just don’t understand the concept of braid… I would argue mono is still king to MOST weekend warriors.

Yeah you’re right, mono is still the best overall for beginners for sure

Sometimes people have to lose fish before they adapt! Nothing less than 17lb when striper fishing 😅

I can say for certain what diameter line is far easier to pick out a backlash 😂 crank baits and jerk baits line is used to control depth. Fly fishing leader selection is all based on the fly being used you have to for pure functionality. Not everything is perfect vertical jigging.

Not gonna lie, i used to be one of those people but after incorporating different fishing techniques i started to understand the reasoning of using heavier lines for certain scenarios and now im irritated of those comments lol

I've caught trophy size fish before on 2lb test line. For me about in my opinion, it's a stamina/endurance game when bringing them in.

I’ve caught 20lb carp on 2lb line, still has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m talking about. Please watch the full video, it will help you out.

You should say to those kind of comments,as Jeff Foxworthy would say “Here’s Your Sign” he could get a lot of material from those comments! LMAO! You’ve got some great tips! Keep it coming, us real fishermen are listening!Keep the faith! I’m 69 years old and it helps! 👍🥸🙏
