This video will show you how to install Lineage OS 16 Unofficial Built (Android Pie 9.0) on HTC One M8.
Compatible with all M8 single SIM variants (m8ul, m8vzw and m8spr).
New Link added for all M8 Dual SIM variants (m8dug and m8dwg)
Requirements:
1. Rooted device with TWRP recovery preinstalled.
2. Unofficial Lineage OS 16.0 built.

So far so good. I kept getting Error Code 7, So i updated to the latest TWRP , Put TWRP Image on Memory card, then flashed within TWRP, Intstall/Image/Swipe, Viola Error code 7 went away. The only issue i am having is with Gapps, Error Code 20. Do you know why Gapps is giving me that error?

error code7 means it thinks your device is incompatible.. try reinstalling TWRP and see if it helped, it did for me

Hi, I'd like to install Lineage OS on my HTC device, but I have the M8s. On the site I see a recommandation for installing the LOS 14.1 for the M8 and the M8d, but I see nothing for the M8s. Does the manipulation you show here could work for the M8s I have? Thanks ;)

Hi. My rom is: 8.1.0 2018-03-20 V15.1-UNOFFICIAL-M8 LineageOS. The best of 4 that I tested .Just one detail: Does not display 4g networks or data. LTE only. Someone with the same detail?

amigo buenas noches, yo tengo htc m8 telcel android, y tengo el problema de que le camara trasera, no funciona, ya le cambie la camara dos veces, y no jala aun con las nuevas, me dicen algunos que es problema de actualizacion del sistema, porque el telefono funciona bien, la camara frontal tambien, todo normal, pero la camara trasera no jala, ni siquiera entra a la camara. no hace nada. como puedo solucionarlo, ni siquiera vibra la camara. solo no funciona. que puedo hacer?. esta actualizacion me servira para funcionar en mexico con telcel ?

My HTC One is a sprint version. It has S-off and i is also unlocked. I also hav twrp recovery installed. But I haven't rooted my device. I don't even have any rom installed on my device. Should I give a try?

Ummm.... I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I downloaded the lineage and the gapps, moved those to my internal storage, rebooted my phone to recovery mode but then my phone just starts like normal... am I missing something? If it helps anything I'm trying to upgrade from marshmallow.... this phone has been pissing me off and I'm hoping that this upgrade will improve something.

As far as I know, this is the best rom available for Htc One M8 right now. No, boomsound is not available in this rom.

Some antutu tests? To see if it perform better than sense. If it scores over 70k on oreo im gonna install it. So give some numbers to people know if they make theyr device optimized or not. Thanks.

Hi! Thank you for the feedback! This rom is still in beta! It is being updated every few weeks and checking for antutu benchmarks for a rom under development does not make any sense!

Works on 8.0 & 8.1 only: 1. Turn phone off 2. Take out sim card 3. Boot phone up 4. Enable usb debugging and connect to PC 5. open up an ADB shell (if you dont know how to do this then do some research) 6. enter the command Code: am start -a android.intent.action.INSERT content://telephony/carriers --ei simId -1 7. This will open the "Add new APN" activity. 8. Fill in all the APN info you need to and name it whatever you want and then click save in the the menu options up top. 9. Once you save the APN...turn the phone off 10. Insert SIM again 12. Turn phone on and let it boot up. 11. Go to Access point names in settings and select the new APN you added.

I tried it but I have a m8_ul single SIM and the rom in the link shows in the installation in the log m8ul an my device as "." and then it quits with failed. Somehow it does not query the right device model during installation of the rom

i have installed lineage os 15.1 succesfully but when i tried to flash the GApps it say "this version works only for android 8.0 your, android version is 8.1.0. Even when i go to opengapps.org/ their latest version of GApps is for android 8.0. So, where do i find GApps for android 8.1???

New Subscriber here 😁 I have and HTC one M8 AT&T Model Rooted and has a Custom Recovery "TWRK" Ready. Will this rom work? I am on the Original Rom the phone came with 5.1? 😞 Also does this rom allow me to Tether? I have 20 Gigs a Month Plan. I want to make the best of it. EL EVO Welcome aboard :) I am also using this rom on ATT varaint. Please back up your device before clean flashing this rom. Also update the fimware and twrp on your device to be able to run/install this rom without any problems! This rom allows tethering. At present everything works except for video recording. For recording a video you will have to install Footej camera app from google play store! Good Luck!

Tech Turbo Thanks 👍 When you say update firmware , Do you mean before install or after install? If it's before install, I don't see a Firmware update Option. Also I am on Cricket Wireless, So when i click to check for updates, it tells me their are no Updates Available at this time. Even though I am on Android 5 :o/ So i imagine you are talking about the new 15.1 Rom Install?

Update firmware before flashing this rom! There is no firmware update option on the device. Firmware gets updated with android update. Since you have rooted your device, you will not get official android updates from your carrier. You have two options! First unroot your device , lock bootloader and install official rom from cricket to update your device and firmware. Second search for alternative methods on xda developers website!

If i do this is can i use playstore and is it save to install apps and use apps like linkin or is this rom just for fun? Can i also make calls? Becouse my HTC has its original firmware on it and I don't want spend money to buy a new phone just for the android version that has the newest patched and updates.

Ashok You can use playstore, just flash gapps provided in the description! You can make calls and do everything you do normally on day to day basis!

Error 20 means wrong gapps for wrong rom! Try using different gapps ( Stock and super variant not recommended) or a different rom.

qetevan chelidze I dont think installing a custom rom will lock your phone! I am using at&t version and got it unlcoked! Installed this rom with no effects on unlocking! However it may be diff for a diff variant!

Power off. Wait until the device is completely powered down. Roughly 15 seconds should suffice. Press and hold Volume Down and power. This should bring you to the bootloader screen. Using the volume keys to navigate and the power button to select, scroll down to Recovery, and push power.
