They are parallel lines that cross the y-axis @ 1 & -3 respectively; therefore, they never intersect

Slopes are the same (parallel), meaning there is no intersection….so no solution

So y=2x+1. If 2nd equation starts with y=2x, there’s only 1 way to complete it and have an equation and it’s not with -3. It’s +1. You could write + 50/50 or -11+12 or 101-100. But ya can’t write -3.

No APPARENT solutions due to the fact that NO NUMBER is just LINEAR.

Why add 3 to both sides? Substracting 2x gives -3=1 and that is just as inconsistent as 0=4. Don’t make math unnecesery difficult.

It doesn't have any solution, as both the variables in both equation are equal and with same sign, moment you subtract one from.another equation, you get number value left over and variable gets escaped leaving constant equal to no variable... 😂

Ok, so if mathematicians want to call it an inconsistent system, so be it, I won’t judge. But the reason that the system has no solution is that the lines are parallel. You show that graphically, but you didn’t say it. So why don’t we just say it: the reason there is no solution is that we have an equation for each of two lines, and the lines are parallel.

He did show it in the first half of this video. He demonstrated that because the two linear equations have the same slope this makes the lines parallel. Same slope + different y int = parallel lines that never intercept.

@@tjbellow2492 yeah, I did find that later, my apologies to the instructor. My teacher used to just say that the solution is the empty set.
