Over all good work. Just a note, tomorrow Jan 11th 2019, I'm turning in my retirement papers as a lineman/crew leader of 38yrs. The body couldn't hang out any more, all those years with the IBEW 1116. Good times and not so good. Over all I wouldn't have changed it for anything. Good luck to all my Bro's, remember, we are our brothers keeper. Be safe take care.

Keep up the good work guys! FYI though, you shouldn't loop and rest your load directly on your winch line or clip onto your winch line. As you should know, this is important for general wear and tear reasons and critical to not form bad habits and potentially employ them when handling heavier loads. Load angles, eyelet/knot efficiency ratings, pinch points, etc all this is engineered for determining the equipment's working limits and keeping you safe.

Any advice or tips are greatly appreciated. Also, if you get intro an apprenticeship with a certificate, how long would it take to become a journeyman? Is it difficult to advance into management if u wanted? Also, one more question. I'm a regular user of marijuana, i know they do a pre employment hair test, but I am quitting now. That's interesting that the armor rod is only there to build up the OD to be able to sit snugly in the shoe. Am I wrong here? Now reading another comment I see that the armor rod protects the wire against contraction and expansion due to weather as it sits in the shoe. Thanks for that quick clip.

I would think the prying and hitting the cable with a screwdriver when smoothing out the over wrap (dont know the correct term) end strands would be discouraged. Doesn't any nicks or even small defects caused to the cable create a potential long term weak spot?

They have a plastic tool that has a flat tip (just like a flathead screwdriver) which is sometimes used when snapping the ends of an armor rod whether its clipping or spacing. That prevents for any "damage"done to the conductor. Hardly used but available.

well I see some workers do jobs soposely without tension in the cables and getting hurt but in this case if a lightning strikes the cable having grounds in the beginning and end of the cable would not do anything and they would be in a bad situation. the only case is left to ensure the safety of them is the truck have a fiber arm witch I don't think he has. so if electricity runs in the cable he will be the perfect ground
