I just bought that same pair of klein journeyman pliers and when I was opening and closing them over and over to loosen them up, now while holding a handle in each hand I notice a very slight wobble. In your opinion, do you think it would be something to worry about for the long run causing problems, and should maybe take and switch them out for another pair. Thanks in advance for your input. I've had various pliers that have a little bit of wiggle to them. Do the jaws noticeably go out of alignment when you squeeze them together? I've seen a very slight misalignment and it never gets worse. In the case of a Lineman pliers I think it's the cutter that causes it. If it is a substantial misalignment you may want to look into swaping it out for another. Let me know how you make out or if you have any other questions.
@@TalkingHandsTools Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I went to check them and they have very slight misalignment. I have to look really hard to see it when I rock each handle back and forth at the same time and feel a very slight klanking feeling which wasn't there when I first got them. Of course I had to test it because Klein claims no wobble on there hot rivet. I just wanted to get an idea if this ever so slight wobble would cause me problems in the future while I still have the window to take them back. I feel better now since you said they probably would be fine and will keep them. They seem really nice. I like the chunkiness of them. @@TalkingHandsTools On another note, I also bought one of the 9" linesman Knipex with the comfort grips and it may interest you to try them out sometime. The difference in the feel between those and Klein is night and day. They both have great features, but nice to appreciate the contrast. I wish you the best of luck with your channel.
They grease them at the factory using the oil you cleaned out the grease which basically "filled in" the joint and makes it tighter. I use oil on mine also. They have a slight wobble also. If I can think up a good way to measure it maybe we'll do a video in the future looking at it. I want to say the Milwaukee pair I have is worse than the Kleins but still not what I would call bad. The cutter on a Lineman pliers tends to cause this when you squeeze them. Maybe we'll take a deeper look at these pliers in another video. Thank you very much for the comments.
these are the 348. Channellock makes a good pair of pliers but if your looking for more leverage even channellock has a better option with their 9". The placement and size of the rivet is key to leverage with whatever make you are considering. Hope this helps. Linemans pliers are a great tool to have in the shop.
