Linen stitch in 1 color and 2 colors: a Knittycat's Knits tutorial 

Video tutorial on how to do the linen stitch in 1 or 2 colors (Simple Stitch Series; traditional patterns)
Linen stitch pattern (odd number of sts; 2- or 4-row repeat)
Abbreviations: K=knit; P=purl; sl=slip the st purlwise; st= stitch; yb=bring yarn to the back; yf=bring yarn to the front.
Linen st: cast on odd number of sts.
1-color version (2-row repeat)
Row 1: K1, *yf, sl1, yb, K1. Repeat from * to the end.
Row 2: Sl1, *P1, yb, Sl1. Repeat from *to the end.
Repeat these 2 rows for the 1-color linen st pattern.
2-color version (color A and color B) (4-row repeat)
Cast on with color A.
Rows 1 and 2: Same as Rows 1 & 2 above, with color A
Rows 3 and 4: Same as Rows 1 & 2 above, with color B
Repeat these 4 rows for the 2-color linen st pattern.
