@@lxxwj Practice NEW STUFF every week AND practice every day for 6+ hours. Staying uncomfortable and learning new stuff that you can't do yet is key. I struggle with it because it's easy to play the shit that you already know and jam over changes you already mastered. One thing I do is write down on a list the things I need/want to learn and always start the practice sesh with something from that list. Then I get to improvising because it's more fun and maybe also a little easier.
Good eye - you can tell from the body language that he is relaxed - light grip on the pick, light touch on the fretboard. I am sure he has natural talent, but he could not have done this without discipline and technique.
I think this cover is totally nuts and this guy is a crazy good player. But I don't think he has such good economy. Not that this is important, because i feel like there are a lot of guitarists that dont have a good economy of motion, but are still really fast and precise players, such as this guy. But if you wanna see some crazy economy of motion check out rick graham on yt. I am not saying that I am an expert at guitar, and my comment should not be seen as critique because that guy is amazing,I just want to show you another great yt guitarist you might like/ who might blow your mind : D
@@lucaandre723 he is definitely a good player. Satriani told him on a cover he did that he brought one of Satch’s songs to an entirely new level. Pretty high compliment from another solid experienced veteran musician!
As a random guy on the internet take this as seriously as you like. But as a fully realized jazz guitarist it's actually not that hard if you transcribe solos and learn tunes all the time! But the fact this solo translates to guitar with considerable ease is astonishing i agree!
I can't imagine learning something this hard and not memorizing it along the way lol I'd be way more impressed if he was reading this off a page, like "yea I've played it a couple times, I got the gist of it". (Not that I'm not already really impressed)
I typed "lingus solo on guitar" for fun in the search bar, i didn't think someone did it for real!! that's so crazy dude, you're sooo freaking good man!
@@christophegragnic8681 Jonathan Asperil's is the first I saw a couple years ago. I was blown away. Though I like that Josh throws in some of his own soloing in the last few bars of this one!
TBF, there are some patterns that are easier on the guitar than the keys. Like the descending chord patterns that only just change frets. Even though that says how crazy Henry's solo is, this is still CRAZY HARD.
@@joshmeaderofficial World class flow here in your playing. Idea: ask Rick Beato to write your a piece of music to play. He has a unique combination of advanced harmony modern classical, soundtrack music but he's also a guitarist with thorough knowledge of rock and jazz. Maybe you could do a collaboration. He could write the piece and also backing music, maybe something symphonic sounding , soundtrack type orchestrations. Also a collaboration with Charles Berthoud. or maybe all three of you.
you have insane tallent. I know its thousand of hours of commitment, you are great guitarist. I love jazz and metal. If you play in metal band I bet you would be on Metal Hammer front cover on every issue.
@@babinm I am pretty sure he has already developed a VERY strong improv repertoire. Notice the little improv at the end of this doozy transcription. I doubt he was reading this and just had it memorized after hours of transcribing. Absolute beast.
I’d like to say, as someone who like many of you had never heard of this guy Joshua Meador before finding this video, if you aren’t going to his channel and checking out his original material, you’re just missing out! Fantastic musicianship here!
Thank you for providing me wrong that no one can do this solo a justice. Guitar and piano gods would be proud of you. I can’t imagine how many hours you put into your guitar in general. A lot of love and respect from India 🇮🇳 ❤
I listen to so much technical death metal and technical music in general that sometimes I forget just how difficult this stuff really is, even though I hear many people playing super fast stuff all the time that it starts to sound like the norm. But this one had me sitting here with my mouth completely open in shock. Cannot imagine the practice you had to put into this. Amazing work.
Keep growing your online presence man! you're probabliy the best guitarrist I've seen, if you keep posting consistently you'll get the thousands of subs you deserve. By the way, do you plan on posting any video on music theory, neck visualization, improvisation, ect.? I'd love to see your approach on any topic.
he should get in touch with the guys from Lost Symphony , it's putting together all the best guitarists that no one has heard of with the metal drummer from all that remains did a few tracks too... Marty Friedman is on one track... right now it's Oli Hebert, Matt Lapierre, Kelly Kereliuk, and Conrad Simon!!@!!! who is unheard of and really epic he's from near where i am from in NB canada he teaches theory at a jazz school for years now in montreal.
Its true. I've been around. I was a professional guitarist for 10 years and have spent 15+ years learning all kinds of wild shit from virtuosos around the world....and still, this guy impresses the hell out of me. The shadowing of this solo was immaculate, and some really solid stuff on his other content, as well.
Don't mind me. I'm just here for my daily dose of awesome. Also: a shame I cannot like this more than once. Really outstanding performance. 10/10. Will come by tomorrow too.
I sent this to my sister and the first thing she said was, sounds like Chick Corea! I don't think she knows anything about Romantic Warrior, but apparently she has good ears!
Man, that is amazing. You give me goosebumps just like the first time I heard Lingus. Such an awesome solo. I can't believe someone could play that solo as beautiful as it is but on guitar, but here you are proving me wrong. Amazing man, just a..ma..zing.. Good job.
Incredibly smooth. I'm losin' my mind boppin along with ya! I didn't see this transcription for sale on your site. I would pay good monies to commit the rest of my quarantine to learning this at half speed
love the addition of guitar to the original solo, makes it sound so full, and joshua's picking style is soooo profoundly relaxed and graceful, it is obviously effortless for him, so he can focus on the fiery emotion of this crazy solo by cory
The world is full of amazing guitar players, but your technique stands out as exceptional Joshua. I have never seen such fluid and relaxed picking, even at breakneck seed. And your fretting hand... Thanks for sharing your music.

Bravo! Bravo. Cory would be floored and honored. That solo reached the heights of Chick Corea, Beck, Herbie and Keith Jarret in one full sweep. Well worth imitating.
It’s very interesting being able to watch this on guitar as a guitarist. I am much more familiar with guitar modes, scales and chord shapes than I am with piano. Being able to see it on guitar just drives home how totally insane this solo is. The continuous modulations and modal changes are mind blowing.
So many questions... How can you memorize so many notes? And with the correct timing? And play the whole thing in a single take? How much time to nail it? Seriously, man. The guitar world is about to be redefined before and after you. Time will tell!
@@markpfeffer7487 it would take you about a bit over 6 hours to learn the whole thing, that's actually pretty incredible if you ask me. 6 hours is little to nothing to spend to learn such a solo.
You’re right. But 6 hours at 30- 50 per cent. Bringing it up to speed is where the right hand memorization and economy is introduced. Btw, it’s not a linear 6 hours, think of it as maybe 30 minutes of good learning each day ( 24 secs of the chart) relearned together each day with the new 24 seconds forming SECTIONS, and so forth, until you loosely learn the whole thing. Then go back and POLISH each section. Remember, you also have to be maintaining the rest of your repertoire as well!
Absolutely insane ! I listened to this solo on the original recording so many times but hearing and seeing it played on the guitar, I felt like the first time I heard it all over again. You got me literally standing up at the end, pumped as hell ! 🔥
Maaaan! That was F*CK'N awesome! The time you spent learnin' every single note of that solo...you got my total respect as a guitarist & a musician. THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!
