David knows you pretty much pull a pin, roll the bucket up and it will flop back agaist the stick. then put the pin back in to lock it up. takes just a couple minutes
That root base looked like a big clump of Ginseng! lol $$$ Damn, she sure is a beast for her age. (Do you name your machines Chris?) Thanks for the share, I dug it! *James*
Do you like the manual thumb? I always feel sort of handicapped whenever I end up running a machine with it instead of a hydraulic thumb. Get used to it eventually but it feels mighty weird for a couple hours.
Have done quite a bit! with a medium sized track hoe and d6's. We normally don't haul off logs or anything of such normally pile trees and organics up and stockpile black dirt on top and let it breakdown until whenever we haul or sift the blackdirt.(mostly palm trees and tropical stuff not worth saving anyhow) Have even placed permanent rip rap without a thumb, oh how that would have been nice!!! LOL. my equipment division is backwards though. They don't wanna dish out money to make money. we don't even recycle our demo'd concrete and we produce enough to make significant amount of fill... it's painful being a lowly 'soldier' lol.
Serious question: Would you recommend a newbie to excavators try this (clearing trees)? I have about .75 to 1 acre of trees to clear and want to do it myself with a 38,000lb machine. We all have to learn somehow, right? (I'll leave the really big trees to the loggers though)
B. Lemire Don't be fooled Chris makes it look easy because he's got the experience land clearing. Are you renting an excavator? if so what happens if you drop a tree on the machine and causes damage?
Chris is this going to pay for itself? I'm guessing you're improving the value of your farm a bunch and since you're doing it yourself instead of hiring the job done you save all the labor costs. I just wonder if the cost of the excavator plus repairs/upgrades minus what you eventually sell it for is more or less than the cost of renting a piece of equipment to get the same job done. It's just curiosity, I'm sure the other factors like "I can go do a bit whenever I want" are worth buying instead of renting. I'm just wondering how much difference it is, and if it's actually saving you money over renting or not.
Here in Aus we can't clear native trees without permits, even if they're dead and a hazard, if you clear without a permit usually you have to plant 100 trees for every 1 you drop. So in short it's not worth trying to drop without a permit, too many do goodies around to do you in.
I want more be nice to get like say a 15 minutes video of clearing or a side bu side comparison to the 210 on a job lol anyways i just want to see more of #BIGGIRL2 and you working the new machine ..... maybe take it on a clearing or excavating job ? Anyone else agree?
seems like you have done better with the other machine, the thumb and generally, i think has less power, your past shows, those trees would have been no problem, looks like a struggle
letsdig18 Good to hear! Always looking forward to the next video. Pretty cool to see the variety of projects and updates! Not that you need to hear it but keep it up!! Its an awesome break in my day!!!
Machine looks nice and clean. Very smooth too with power during multiple functions. Not even gonna say "for an older machine", if it looks good it's always the operator. Nice work
