Okay, I’m sorry but someone’s gotta say it.. This is a HEAVILY PROCESSED VOCAL! Now don’t get me wrong - I know Nate is a killer vocalist, nothing but respect! I’ve been following him for a while now and I enjoy most of his stuff. (Edit: your cover of 45 actually got me into singing and motivated me so much, thanks if you’re seeing this) But we have to draw the line somewhere - or at least TELL PEOPLE WHAT IT IS THEY ARE SEEING! To someone who doesn’t have experience with producing, this may appear totally natural, as if this was what he actually sounded like unplugged. And rightfully so - the video format (guy sitting with nothing but his acoustic and mic) suggests that we’d be getting a raw, intimate audio experience, i.e. something we’d hear if we were in the room with him. This is giving people completely unrealistic expectations.. And that’s what I have a problem with - it’s not even a one take! You can clearly hear some transitions not adding up, for some of the lines were recorded separately. Moreover, the amount of compression and pitch correction is crazy. There’s nothing wrong with using these effects when you’re producing a song! In fact that’s what the standard for a contemporary record is (as someone has pointed out here) and it is expected. But here I simply think that it’s misleading. To anyone out there, who, like me, always feels like they suck because their voice in the bathroom is nowhere near his in the videos: we’re never going to sound like this - and we shouldn’t, it’s totally unnatural:) BRING BACK RAW VOCALS! Cheers
Absolute nail on the head, everything is so fake these days, we can't trust anything, bring back the truth, bring back raw imperfect vocals.... This performance just sounds sterile.
Thanks for saying it, perfect explained and respectfully. Before learning music production I watched these type of videos and felt bad for not singing like that, a comment like this would have saved my mind
@@benlenderman1777fr, The autotune is very noticeable, also the frying effect is his voice seems kinda artificial, tho I think he still has a nice voice without the effects
Going by your logic, he shouldn’t mix and master either. Make that argument make sense. Autotune now is for sure meant for fixing bad vocals when it really is meant for complimenting good vocals. Same with mixing and mastering. Makes your vocals sit well in the mix, so that’s technically vocal tuning too, so should we just not do that and have the beat overpower the vocals? It’s a stupid and ignorant argument and it just needs to stop.
@@gootyobt2032It's not neccesarily but it helps correct little errors you'll make when singing. As long as it's not drowned in auto tune, then it's fine. It's a tool to enhance to quality of ones voice
Its definitely cant hear it? Doesnt mean hes not talented pitch correction doesn't make a bad a singer good it just evens out some of flat notes that can happen even with incredible singers
@HollowRick depends tbh. Hes using voice production to have a more robotic sound. Be interesting to hear how he sounds with just the guitar and no mixing.
Man you’re putting your whole soul and heart into this performance and you are nailing it ! This is one of my favorite songs and you delivered to perfection !
The fact that you can sound like this and ONLY have 9k likes gives me zero confidence in myself as a musician being capable of reaching even the lowest levels of success. Fantastic cover btw!!
