This song is hard to sing, even Chester himself said he hated performing this song because of the stress on his throat. But I have faith oli did good! Oli wouldn't want to do a half ass job at one of his idols tribute concert.
I think it even sounds better with Oli singing it I just love his screaming voice too much. No hate on Chester Linkin Park is one of my favourite bands too and I love his voice
I knew this yes, and you can see this influence in alot of their songs. And can see his emotion in this song so much. Did it really well. I couldn't believe when I came across this. Amazing ❤️
@@專業破梗you can really hear it in Sempiternal but BMTH change pretty much with every album. Shit, they’ve been leaning back towards the deathcore days of count your blessings lately. They did a whole festival show with songs they haven’t done since 2009
@@Twoblocksdown-1 Oli has said in many interviews that Chester & LP were one of his major influences. As BMTH evolved you could here many of LP's musical styles in their music.
@@Arnamoo there new stuff is no where close to nu metal man, nu metal is is slipknot self titled, Korn, old LP, their new stuff is more mainstream rock pop
@@alecwesterholm9122 Bro. Did you listen to their new EP? Amo was Pop Rock. Their new stuff is way heavier. Teardrops and 1x1 sound really like early Linkin Park
@@cheahop9083 Im a hardcore bmth fan but lets be honest, No one can scream like Chester. I'll never forgot the 17 seconds screams on "Given Up" live. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TIAYWkIRBjE.html
Fuck the livestream issue. So no one is going to mention those passionate ass hugs at the end? Or Oliver wiping his tears as he leaves? Heartbreaking. But even so, he got to sing his heart out with the crowd just as many other artists did and thats all that matters.
I was there... He was fuckin amazing and it was all him.. No fuckin lip sync bullshit.. sucks the live stream fucked it all up but pretty much the whole thing had shitty audio 😟😒 hopefully the release a dvd with the raw audio footage.. All the haters need to just stfu.. Watch crowd shot footage, it's 1000% better, actually captures the show as it was and the energy... It was truely an amazing environment ❤❤❤
I don't think Linkin Park are believers in using lip sync, I also don't think they would have picked Oli if they didn't think he was capable of actually using his voice. Come on people use your brains.
I'm so proud of Oli for not stopping when he accidentally started the chorus a few seconds early, rather choosing to pick it up once it actually started, it can be hard to keep everything perfectly accurate when singing live, so I'm proud of him for not stumbling when he made that little mistake.
That is Zedd’s fault cause he clearly forgot there’s an extra measure after the second pre-chorus. He started to fill in to the second chorus a measure before he should have totally confusing Oli.
Agreed, I've seen them live multiple times and people can hate his vocals if they want, that's fine, but they can't say he doesn't perform live. He has tracks for all the bits that aren't him anyway obviously but he does his parts for sure whether he does them well or not. The main thing with Oli is just inconsistency but I loved them every time regardless.
i didnt know the band bmth before, i saw the live stream and i thought hmm playback? then i looked up some of their performances (live ofc) and i thought (in mind the speech of mike about oli) that guy never playbacks! in the end... he didnt! this band is actually amazing and oli did a fucking awesome performance. though to say, maybe the best of that evening. he was on stage like chester was in his earlier career! he fucking made chester proud! i mean.. he just jumped down into the crowd basically telling everyone there "security, please step back, i am here to celebrate one of my idols! i am here to show respect to one of the greatest vocalists of our time and these people want to sing with me, so i will sing with them down there"
A funny comment considering he has used playback on the chorus of Shadow Moses for years.. But this is not playback, they explained on twitter it was the livestream using a rehearsed performance instead of sending the live sound
Amazing? Are you serious? Major fuck up at 2:30. Skipped an entire segue measure. The singer and most of the band even followed him. That being said, he's still better than Bob
It still hurts not seeing Chester on scene.. there's a weird pain in my heart. I want LP to exist but there's a hole that can't be filled.. Oli did an amazing job though
theonewhotookyourplace I know what you mean. It hurts that he felt so sad and he let the mind games take his life. I believe that there is an evil power lurking beside us. There’s no other answer to suicide. Rest In Peace to Chester. He was my idol growing up, he understood how life throws everyone around
A proof of that its live is at 2:30 because there he sings crawling at the wrong moment together with the audience and 3 seconds later he starts again with crawling at the right moment. That would not happen if he wasnt singing at all right? then you would not hear him start to early. I think that he did great wether he sang everything or most of it, he still sounded good and even if some parts were recorded he did actually sing it (maybe a day earlier).
Watch any bmth (not) live show, he has always lip synced because he's a useless singer. It's why I went off the band in the first place, bvb are another example of trash lip syncers.
Ariel Valdez English isn't my first language so I apologize. It's all prerecordered from rehearsal that's why it comes across as believable. He's just lazy and has always done the same and has been called out for it ever since they first made it big
Had no idea Zedd could drum but then I realised that both him and Oli come from a deathcore background...guess the two of them have more in common than I thought
Oli tweeted about this he said: Someone fucked up and used the rehersal take from the night before on the live stream. No lip sync (and then linked this vid)
He explained everything on twitter, stop a bit to think that if he could not sing obviously not even accepted, after all the motto of the concert was *MakeChesterProud*, it would have been disrespectful to even think about it, just recognize that he did very well ^^
The crowd heard him and the backing track together (very obvious if you analyze the live crowd videos), there are 2 separate sets of voices. The stream only heard the backing track, they didn't route his live vocals to the stream audio, probably because people would be hear 2 people singing and would catch on quick, especially if 1 vocal was terribly off and the other was pitch perfect. He used a pitch corrected back track, also extremely obvious, and he knew perfectly well he had a back track if was using in ear monitors. He does the same shit for every BMTH show.
For once im glad we have fans recorded footage. Ive watched the livestream, always wondered why some vocals either very low volume or outright didnt come out. Like oli’s “sing it”. Here it sounds right.
Oli did good, he did so god damn good with this performance. He did this song such justice, hit every soft note and every scream perfectly. He did so good on Chester's legacy here
He's the king of playback. He fucking lip syncs at every show and relies on the crowd and his bandmates to sing. He's shit whenever he's not in a studio where pitch correcting and vocal effects are available
Sometimes I wonder, why fuck it up the sounds in a livestream or in a DVD/CD? In the livestream just in his part of the show they put a wrong track making all of us to believe he playback the song but here's the proof that indeed, he sing it without playback. I've seen a lot of audio problems with BMTH, for example in Wembley 2014 Shadow Moses starts, in the DVD audio the playback chorus can be heard but in a fan phone he scream it. Leeds 2015 in the livestreaming the same thing happened. I wonder why this happen
I still miss Chester a lot. You will never be forgotten. And though the occasion of this collaboration was because of something so depressing and sad, i have to say that Oli Sykes voice is getting better and better as he grows older. As well as he is getting more hot.
So basically he had lip sync in the live stream but he didn’t needed it after all. You can notice some parts he actually sang were not in the livestream (you could listen there but not so loud) which kinda sucks for him cuz everyone is going to see the livestream recorded version and not how he actually sang. And I’m honestly surprised, he screamed better than I expected
Pierfrancesco Poccianti when he says "my walls are closing in" he moves the mic away and then rises it again with no changes in sound. This could be very very good compression, but the same thing happens at 0.42 and more obviously at 0.50. So, since the live stream fed a loud backtrack and let his mic off, I'm pretty sure he was lipping at least some parts of the song and singing over the backtrack in others.
He couldn’t have done that even 4 years ago , I love the way he put his addiction into his music. Anyone who’s been through addiction know if you put that much effort into anything you’ll go far in life!!
Sometime accident create the perfect piece of art. I love the double vocal in 2:30 it was like the echo of tormented soul has been released twice. Oli did it so awesome
Ive seen BMTH perform many times and they never once used playback. But just because it was a live stream, producer's often use playback regardless of the artists choice to keep quality sound over televised performances. It's basic practice. I know oli well enough that he's a great singer and performer.
I can’t speak for every show but when I saw BMTH live in Glasgow Oli definitely didn’t lip sync. Think people are too quick to judge and act like they are experts when the have no fucking clue about live performances and sound engineering and its hilarious hahaha just stick to listening to the music and let the professionals deal with what you hear...
I was such a huge fan of LP, and I remember watching this live but had no idea who Oli or BMTH was. Out of all the performances, I thought his was one of the best. Recently, I’ve become a huge BMTH fan, and I stumbled on this video and couldn’t believe that was Oli. He did an amazing job. Even Chester hated singing this song live.
