in case you want to know the song list from the board here it goes: Cumulus Interrogation Cuidado Pretty Birdie Shifter Shortcut Nocturnal Session Resolution Faint Sick Plaster II Husky Drawing Figure.09
Hi you seemed like well informed , so maybe you can help me. Is there a version of the song/demo with the vocals from 0:17min - 0:22min online? Thanks for your help! :)
@@XplusZEROequalsZX Well there are demos for both, so they either split them because they were trying different things, or they started as two different seeds and then they decided to combine the best of both
stuff like that happens go on discogs and look at some single releases of your favorite band you'd be surprised how many fully completed songs get slapped onto some random single and totally forgotten about, never played live, never acknowledged by the artist etc. Of course "Lost" was totally unreleased so that's a bit different
I recently noticed you can see the lyrics for this version in screen during the same segment in the making of meteora. They are difficult to read, but i believe they are "thoughts that take away my pride, I've been places deep inside, memories I've come to fear, and i can't make them disappear"
the lyrics were kinda figured out a long time ago, but quite different with "living with the enemy" line: (...) recieved (...) they made (...) I believed (...) break away (...) I'm alone Thoughts that take away my pride Trapped in places deep inside Memories I've come to fear And I can't make them disappear (Thoughts like these return to me) Thoughts that take away my pride Trapped in places deep inside (Memories trapped inside of me) Memories I've come to fear And I can't make them disappear
@@lp_forgotten2000 of the damage i’ve … received broken promises … they made and how blindly … i believed i will never … break away cause when … i’m alone it was all the second verse in that part of the paper bridge heard here was thoughts that take away my pride from places deep inside memories i’ve come to fear can’t make them disappear thoughts that take away my pride from places deep inside (living with the enemy) memories i’ve come to fear can’t make them disappear (memories trapped inside of me) *and possibly more unheard
@@lp_forgotten2000 God I hate song making when the song is lost media and they write one version but record another version but its actually backup vocals.
Bruh I read the title of the vid and was like, ah I've seen that, that's old news, but damn nice to hear those overlayed vocals man chesters voice was unmatched!
I'd love to see this version come out, its really catchy. Idk if its as powerful as the lyrics they went with like what they released may be the best version, but like god damn this is catchy but I cant listen to it fully and work it out of my head lol.

Thoughts that take away my pride I've been faced deep inside Thoughts that bury me in fear I can't make them disappear Living with the enemy Memories trapped deep inside of me I absolutely love it.
Am I the only one who feels like the demos released in the box set lacked Chester a lot? I feel its because they want to release more and prolong his legacy and I'm all for it. I just pray we get this demo among other ones we know exist!!!
Lyrics are the last thing written for a song in LP. It's most likely that they got to that part in the song and decided they didn't want to go further with it for the album, and so they shelved it, not recording vocals for it.
“We rewrote a song for the 97th time” Hey man Lost is a Triumph because of it. It was criminal to leave it off the record. Also that original chorus was pretty weak, glad you guys were able to perfect it, like you always do!
I'm back "Memories should disappear" idk man that just feels powerful, like I feel it. Either it's good lyrics or I've successfully repressed some type of trauma lmao.
that is correct. This was a bridge lyric in the process. It got confused with chorus because of the keyboard melody, which later got muted or turned down over the bridge, probably during mixing.

They said they intended to release it though. Touring definitely took a load on them that next year so the demand and idea even for a release of an extra song became less I think
personally, I'd have used both choruses and made a longer chorus. Like this: I'm lost in these memories Living behind my own illusion Lost all my dignity Living inside my own confusion Thoughts that take away my pride Trapped in places deep inside Memories I've come to fear And I can't make them disappear Lost in these memories Living inside my own confusion
@@CarlosHernandez-zi6wm There was a shot of the lyric sheet seen in one of the making of clips that shows that part coming right after the verse. It is extended in the bridge section though. What we're hearing here seems to be the second chorus and the bridge.
@@benjaferro2035 All the songs had working titles seen on that red board, Resolution is present on the board, and it was Lost's working title, but a demo that evolved and got changed a lot in the process.
The background instrumental is the same as Lost. This demo lyrics was rewritten to Lost (That is why Chester said "today we rewrote a song for the 97 times").
I have a theory that they used an AI for Chester's voice and they didn't tell anyone about it. Also, the production on the "released" version makes the song sound like it was off of Living Things, not Meteora. I believe this was nothing but a marketing scheme/publicity stunt for the band to remain successful or well-known. Either way, if someone were to tell me that Lost was off Meteora, I would call BS on that.
@@geogeo9537 I can understand why you think Lost is better for Living Things.. it's because the Lost we're used to listening was mixed by the Living Things producer, Manny Marroquin. They used the newer mix to attract listeners and also because it's much more modern radio friendly. The 2002 Mix sounds outdated. Hence, why they opted for the LT producer to mix Lost so that it sounds more modern
You should first listen to the "Q&A Lost" Podcast 🤦♂️, he explained there that this was the preversion of Lost. Or listen to the interviews about the anniversary of Meteora. "Lost" was originally 13th track on Meteora, then they dropped it as having the same premise as "Numb" (but they kept the vocals, and the instrumental tracks were the ones they found at the end). There are many tracks (even covers) that Chester recorded, which even for example Stone Temple Pilots still keep, as Sean Dowdell said in an interview with "Revolver" channel. I think Linkin Park too (I guess they will release them with the coming anniversarys), and Grey Daze will release the remasters over time I guess (he said that they kept many tracks).
