Wow .. Thank you so much for this easiest way to insert AutoCAD file with shared coordinates matching and lined up so precisely . i have been always looking for something that should be understood very easily and now my search come to an end. Thank you so much once again...
Very easy approach. If you unclip the survey base point, it will adjust to the new project coordinates. Don't forget to reclip the survey point when done. Thank you!
Thank You for the video.. I followed exactly the video, But when I rotate the North Project And I try To import another file, It is not correctly rotated. Any suggest?
Hi, quick question, would you be able to use the project base point rather than the survey point when linking the DWG? On the other hand, does Revit only related the DWG to the survey point when positioning or could I use the project base point when positioning by shared coordinates?
thanks a lot for uploading this but! it dosn't work it shows only the coordinate witch i gave by using manage tab specify coordinates thats is ok but remaining points not approach correctly please advise anybody if knows
Hello brother i have one confusion in my autocad drawing can one help me please in model space my drawing is vertical but in layout drawing is horizontal ho i can rotate the drawong in model space with authentic way please guide me if anyone knows
Eric, you can clean it up in AutoCAD or Revit. When linking a CAD file into Revit, use the" CURRENT VIEW ONLY" option when picking the file name. This will bring the file into JUST the current view and will not overwhem you and the model with CAD lines. Once loaded, you can use Vis. Graphics (VV) to turn off the layers you do not want and adjust the color and line weights. Another option is to pick the CAD file. One the ribbon you will see QUERY. Pick it. This will let you list layer and hide them directly from the screen. Hope this helps, Ken
Another newbie question... I noticed that my Revit file doesn't share the same North position as my CAD survey. Also the Revit building doesn't fit within the linework of the CAD file? Best possible solution???
eric guizzetti Eric, you have two separate things happening here. First the scale. Many surveyors use a one unit equals a foot and some use one unit equal an inch. Many times when you bring files into Revit you need to adjust the scale. sometimes it's easy, you just need to scale up or down by the multiplier of 12. If you're using meters Etc you have to use a multiplier of 10 or 100 or .1.... Second, set the true north. Revit actually has a tool called "Rotate true north". You may be able to Google or RU-vid a video on how to quickly set the true north. it's quite easy once you see it done. so to recap, you need to verify your scale, set the road True North rotation, and then bring the files together.
I get a warning that "Imported objects located a large distance from the model might not display properly. The "Center-to-Center" option will be used." The cad file inserts but the points are not lining up. Any ideas?
I also got the same warning and points also were not lined up at first try then i changed the units in Revit as same as came from AutoCAD and entered the coordinates once again with same units (everywhere in meters only) in specify coordinates option in manage tab then re inserted CAD file again and it lined up precisely.
